I didn't up until today. They need to show something away from MetLife. 5-2 the rest of the way and they're in, 4-3 and it's a tossup. I'm hoping they get in because the AFC East is a lot more enjoyable with Rex Ryan in it. Congrats on a must win win.
I still need to see us win 2 in a row before I say we are playoff contenders. On the flip side, we haven't lost two in a row and have never been below .500
They are and they aren't. If that makes any sense. We have no offensive weapons at receiver. We need to fully commit to ground and pound if where gonna make into the tournament.
With Ivory health and IF we can get Holmes back I say "yes". We need play makers to mount any kind of playoff run.
Lets not get crazy after the win today. The one thing that will keep this team on the outside looking in is that they have no offense at all except the ground game. We will go only as far as our ground game and Defense takes us. We faced a bad team against the run today. We won't always be so lucky going forward to the end of the season.
When Holmes gets healthy, Cumberland gets healthy, Kerley gets healthy and Winslow can come back, I'll be a little bit more confident. I'm loving the 2nd half schedule compared to the first, though. I never would have expected 5-4 at the start of the season.
They won with no Santonio Holmes, no Kellen Winslow, no Jeff Cumberland and no Jeremy Kerley after the early action. Unbelievable. Oh yeah, and no Stephen Hill.
The only other problem is tie breaking wise, the Jets are doing a terrible job. I am 100% ecstatic with the wins. It's weird we are 2-1 in the division which is great right now. But then we are 3-0 in NFC games and 0-3 in AFC games outside the East (TEN, CIN, and PIT). The first tiebreaker is H2H, so TEN and PIT have that on us. The next is division record if you are in the same division, this is important vs MIA. Then conference record where we are 2-4 right now.
Well we've seen that before....... the D-line was fucking BEAST MODE.... PUMPED! no expectations, because we've already met mine for the season....... so you're saying we've got a CHANCE?!?!?! I just want week 17 to mean something! :drunk:
I think Ivory's performance today might just make Marty adjust his playcalling in the second half of the season. At least I hope it does.
This essentially means that we need to go 10-6 or better. We will likely lose tie-breakers if we're at 9-7.
To use a boxing metaphor: We have a puncher's chance.. Unlike most folks around here, I don't see any doormats on the schedule after the bye week. Every team we're facing has improved this season and we will have to show up and bring our A game.
This could be one of those years where there is only one 9-7 team in the AFC alongside a couple of 8-8 to go along with the 4 division winners and the second place team in the AFC West. The year the Giants broke Eli in they were 5-4 when they replaced Warner and two 8-8 teams made the playoffs as wild cards.
I think Ivory got a little payback today for playing against his former team. The shoulda kept me attitude.
