and his name is Braylon Edwards Seattle clearly doesn't see him as an integral part of their offense. I'd gladly give up a 7th rounder for a WR that Sanchez has played and was successful with. Fuck Burress. This was a HUGE mistake by Tannenbaum. Time to fix it. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7179/gamelog
The argument for bringing in Braylon Edwards is that the Jets can bring Stephen Hill along slowly, not rushing him onto the field after the injury and not over-exposing his lack of experience early on. I wouldn't mind seeing the Jets go get somebody like Edwards but I doubt that it will be a high impact move at this point. There's nothing the offense can do to stop the run and there's very little Edwards or any other WR can do to help the Jets run the ball better themselves.
We have literally ZERO depth behind our Suspect starting lineup and you want to give away more draft picks in a potential losing season? Not smart at all.
Considering how few late round picks made our roster this year and how little a difference there appears to be between UDFA and 7th round picks, I would absolutely take a 7th round flyer on Braylon Edwards. No more though.
For a 7th I'd do it because at least he's familiar with Mark. I wouldn't expect 2010 type production though. Theres a reason SF and Seattle don't see him as part of their offense. Bringing him back is assuming that he wasn't a locker room issue when he was here.
Just wait. Seahawks will probably cut him. Even if they do, not sure I want BE. Last two teams have not used him at all. Says a lot IMO.
I loved Edwards when he was a Jet, but I just don't understand how missing out on his 20 total catches in the 20 games since we let him walk constitutes a HUGE mistake. If anything, not giving him the contract he wanted was a major dodged bullet (that Tannenbaum immediately lodged in his brain anyway with the Holmes deal, but that's a whole different post.)
I'd rather just trade away players for draft picks come trade deadline if the team is cooked. Stock up. I know trades aren't all the common in the middle of the season in the NFL, but it would be smart to consider it if that's how the season looks.
Edwards may be an upgrade over the likes of schillenz, but he is far from the player he was for us in 2010. The reason he got benched up in Seattle is he let the game winning TD in week one go right through his hands. He ha lost speed, returned to dropping easily catchable balls, and was always a bit of a diva. There is a reason the jets parted ways with him two years ago and I highly doubt they want him back.
IMO it’s ALL about attitude right now. I don’t care how skilled the player is as long as they are here to play their hardest and give their best. The vet names being thrown around are all crap players with bad attitudes. The last thing we need is “me players”. We need team players. At this point I will take good attitude and solid effort over "me first" talent.
I agree. Personally, I see this as a potential "letdown" season. We've lost two top playmakers in Revis and Holmes and most of our others who are decent players are recouping from injuries ie DK. I'm a potential optimist in all things relating to football, life, work, etc. But quite honestly, this has reached a point where I'm tired of hearing the same quote from fans - "The Jets are 2-2 and 2-0 in their division." Yeah? Just wait. Before you know it, we'll be sitting with a 2-5 record and 2-2 divisional record, with the Pats sitting on top (as usual). It will take a good 4-5 years for us to recover from this IMHO.
Funny that the Niners brought in nine hundred receivers after last year and they didn't retain the GREAT Braylon Edwards. He's done, folks.
I would hardly call Braylon Edwards a "me first" player. He gave his all on the football field. There's a reason why fans loved him so much. On another note, I don't want to see a trade unless it is for a young player with potential to be great. Last time I checked, teams were not looking to trade away those kinds of guys. Right now, we have to stick with what we have and develop them as much as possible. Tbh, Schilens and Hill on the outside isn't too bad. Both are big, physical receivers who run a 4.3-4.4. Am I saying that they are great? No, but it is what we should stick with for now.
Just because someone has off the field issues doesn't make him a "me first" player. He just simply is not. He never put up incredible stats here. He never complained about his QB or OL. He just didn't. I don't understand where you are coming from. Like I said, there's a reason the fans loved him.
"I want a WR that hasn't caught a single ball in the past 3 weeks" You got one, Hill hasn't caught one all year..in fact he hasn't even been on a team all year.
