After looking up Cowhers coaching record a few weeks ago all the fire Bowles talk prompted me to look up Parcel's record. Are you kidding me? Another higher regarded "HOF" coach who in 19 years only had 9 seasons of 10 or more wins. Im so frustrated to be a Jets fan right now but its hard to believe as a coach myself that all if the problems begin and end with Bowles. Im sure there are other highly regarded coaches with spotty records that would not be considered so great if their respective teams fired them after 2 seasons. Do the reasearch...please share.
If you believe the whole is simply a sum of its parts, then yeah, Bowles is not alone on Ineptitude Island. We have the worst functioning Org. Chart in the league except maybe the Browns. Its a shame how quickly the Raiders went from dysfunctional to contender is less time than our organization once AL Davis passed on. Bowles and Macc? I don't see much changing in the near future as both men report to the Owner who over the last 17 years has proven over and over that he's no football or organizational savant. they both should get one more year if for no other reason, to show some consistancy within this clusterfuck of a organization. Even if there were a experienced HC available, Woody would most likely sign the longshot anyway. Oh well, its been 48 years now. No HC with a legacy to protect should ever consider coming to the New York Jets. Puff.... puff....pass. Now where did I put that bourbon......
The Raiders drafted well, they got Mack, Carr, and Cooper. It took time for these guys to develope, they hired a seasoned HC who is old school in his approach to football. He likes to run the ball, uses his TE and uses a 6 oline man to help block on running plays. Its such a tried and try formula that I believe you will see more teams go back to drafting oline help and get back to running the ball. Unless teams have a HOF QB the pass heavy scheme is not going to work. I'm of the opinion that if Gailey ran the ball more, the jets would not be in this mess. It has been stated before by many in this board, he does not have the QB to run his scheme, he has the type of QB that would rely on a balanced offensive scheme that relies on play action, sweeps and counters with the occasional shotgun formation. It's not the structure that is hurting the organization, it's the football philosophy from top down and the personnel they have, they don't match. It feels like everyone is on a different page when it comes to figuring out what to do with this team. Woody lives in the past, holding on to nostalgic memories of Revis. Bowles lives in the present trying to win games with a bum of a QB and veteran RT who can't block to save his life. Mac is trying to prep for the future but can't because he doesn't know what he has in most of the young players that Bowles won't give playing time to. Uugghh
