....will you be happy for him regardless of him being a Patriot? Just wondering. The guy was a Patriot killer when he was a Jet. I hated him but I thought he was a good player. He's one of those guys that deserve a ring in my book.
Ill hate the fact the pats got a ring. But I can't hate ellis. We low balled him, and he got an offer that was close to 4 times what we were willing to pay. He is one of the long time jets who deserves a ring that we never could give him.
Dude, haven't you been paying attention? 4 million guaranteed dollars is like pocket lint mixed with a button from an old shirt and a couple of pennies in today's NFL.
How many players deserve a ring in your book? I can think of hundreds of hard-working good players who were not selfish and didn't get suspended.
Could not care less. I am a fan of the Jet laundry, not the players. If Tom Brady became a Jet tomorrow, Id love him. If Nick Mangold became a Pat tomorrow, good riddance. Absolutely no personal feeling about any of these guys. Unless youre 11 years old, thats the way it is.
I agree 100%. I actually liked Jason Taylor for one NFL season. One season I was indifferent to him. The rest of his career I disliked him.
I think a lot of older guys feel that way, I know I do. Fuck him. He was offered what the Jets felt he was worth then has the gall to say at media day that the Jets weren't up front with him. Still trying to figure out how somebody telling you that your not gonna start and we're offering you the min isn't up front. What else would you like them to tell you? It's like this past offseason for me in baseball, now granted I was never the biggest Jose Reyes fan but fuck him now. On the opposite side of the coin I watch a lot of Angels games so having never been a big Pujols fan I like him now. Bingo... I think I would have liked him a lot more had we won the SB and retired a Jet but all of us gloating about him sticking it to Miami is exactly what happened with Ellis although how they got there was different but the situation is similar.
There are a few. Ellis did good things for the Jets his entire time there. Like I said, I hated the guy. Couldn't stand him. But I'm a Pats fan. He's made it to 2 AFCCG only to go home a loser. I'm happy for guys like that who have been trying forever and finally get their chance. The Jets didn't want him and BB made the call, and Ellis jumped at the chance. If he gets a ring, I'm guessng he will retire a happy camper.
What's funny is Jet fans felt this way last year about Jason Taylor. Although he didn't play his entire career in Miami previous to coming to NY how many people will remember him as a Redskin?
I hope he doesn't get one because that will mean the Pats will have won. If the Pats do win, I will not be happy for Ellis and don't get how the Jets were the bad guys here. Ellis was clearly coming to the end of his career last year. He looked slow and was invisible most of the year, except for the playoff game vs the Pats . The Jets did not let him go. They offered him a fair contract for a player who was clearly going to play a limited role. The Pats offered him four times as much, so he took the money. Tell me, did Ellis earn $4 million with his 14 tackles and 1 sack this season? So if he gets a ring, he will not have earned it. He will have a ring for wearing the Pats laundry for one overpaid season while standing on the sidelines telling his teammates "good job" from his regular position on the bench. The Jets did not miss him, and he played no part in the Pats being where they are today.
