Just a thought here... I know people connect with the Jets for several reasons. Maybe you like the underdog factor or because their green or maybe you grew up watching them as a family tradition and it just became a part of you. But here's the question! If the Jets up and moved from the Tri State area to where ever they land, would you still be a Jets Fan? Or do you love them because they are from where you reside or once lived.

I know we have fans from far off places but was just wondering. If they did move I'd try to root for them but it would be weird and take some adjusting.

I've been a Jets fan since the age of 7 during the '95 season, and I will be a Jets fan for the rest of my life, regardless of what happens.

That's a really tough question. Being a Jets fan is a family thing passed down from my Dad. On the other hand, he was born and raised in NY, while I am from NJ, so geography played a part in it. I moved to FL 7 years ago, and obviously brought my Jets love with me.

Cop out answer, but I'm not sure. I'm 38 and can't imagine being anything but a New York Jets fan. I guess if they were no longer the "New York Jets" I might move on. That would suck though. I would/could never be as passionate about any other NFL team.

    Good, thought provoking question though.

Been rooting for the Jets for 21 years from enemy territory.

They could play on the moon for all I care I'm not turning in my Green and White.

Just to throw another wrench in this.......

If the Jets relocated AND changed their team name, would people remain a fan?

Don't think I could do it. It wouldn't be the same team I always rooted for, especially since they'll have new fans in their new town.

I'd probably cry for years until I finally gave up on NFL football all together.

Did Ari buy us? Are we the L.A. Golds now?? :breakdance:

Probably still stay with them. Hell what are the alternatives? Big Blue or the team from Canada? Fuck that.

Honestly it would be fun to be in on the ground floor of a team. I've met a few lunatic Titans fans and they all love to throw in the fact that they were there from day one. Same with Jacksonville.

Fandom is a funny thing. If you are a fan of a team for a long time you eventually realize you are essentially rooting for a name and some colors.

For instance when I started rooting for the Phins they had a different owner, gm, coach, players, uniforms, etc.

That said, I could never root for another NFL team, unfortunately lol

    If they kept Rex sure.

If they up and moved, and got rid of Rex.

Id probably just hop on board to wherever Rex lands, and go back to being a Ravens fan

This makes me remember when the Seattle Supersonics became the OKC Thunder. I felt so bad for the Seattle fans but I'm willing to bet a fair share of them are now OKC fans...it's probably a good thing since OKC is a lot better than Seattle ever was, but I still feel bad for the die-hard Seattle fans.

For me, I'd stay a Jet fan. It would be a lot easier if they kept the same name, but even if they changed the name it doesn't really matter since I don't really have an alternative team to root for. Hopefully that doesn't happen, though.

Let's all hope some other team moves to LA...I don't think Woody would ever leave NY though.

how long is that metlife stadium contract?

jets aint goin nowhere, and i know thats not the point of this thread, i just need to reassure myself haha

i dont think i would really have a team to root for if the jets moved and changed names. i might still root for the new team but it wouldnt be the same. been a jet fan since i first started watching football as a little kid.

Only if they came to Glasgow/UK as part of NFL expansion.

Seriously. This is a tough one not being geographically connected. To me it would come down to the reasons for a relocation although I would have a huge amount of suspicion and distrust of an ownership that would just dump an existing and established fan base in a huge market. So all in all I would need to suck it and see but probably become distanced from the team and then NFL all together

If the Jets left the NY-Metro area I would not continue to be a fan. No. I'd likely become a Giants fan, who I've never had any hatred for.

If the Jets moved to another location, I'll still root for them. However, I prefer the Jets to stay here in the New York Metropolitan Area where they first started.

I have a friend in Washington would now roots for the Trailblazers. He claims most of the Sonics fans do not like the Thunder. How accurate that is, I do not know.

Most of the Sonics fans believe Seattle will get another NBA franchise at some point in the future, so I think it is legit that not many Sonics fans are now Thunder fans.

Kinda stupid considering that IS their team. When the team got sold, they also sold their history including all past titles, etc
