It is almost a sure thing they would be looking to move out of the #2 pick if they signed brees...

So the questions is...would you want the Jets to trade up to #2 and take Matt Leinart? If not, please state why...not just "GOD NO!"

In my opinion, our franchise REALLY needs a leader for now and the future as well as a new identity. Matt Leinart would be just what the franchise needs...a foundation. Matt Leinart's biggest question mark is his arm strength. I have also heard that people pick on his arm strength because that is his only "weakness"...From what I have seen, Matt Leinart's arm strength is good and his accuracy is amazing.

We need a cocky, smart, tough, winning franchise QB. I think Matt Leinart would fit perfectly into NY.

Want to talk about big games? How about has won 2 National Championships and almost won a third. Want to talk about stats? Nearly threw for 100 passing TD's in his college career. It ranks among the top 8 in all time college football history.

Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself, but if Brees does infact sign with New Orleans...I think there is a chance we make the move.

I would trade up if the price is right. I'd much rather have Leinart than Young or Cutler. If it was something like a 1st and 2nd, or our 1st and Denver's 29th, I'd do it, because the player we'd get at that pick wouldn't help our team that much. Plus we'd have the other pick to make up for it (the 2nd or the 29th) The 22nd pick, if we get it, and the 4th come very close to the 2nd on the pick value chart. I wouldn't trade that pick though, because we'll definetly be able to add two impact players if we do indeed land those two picks.

    I'm sure interested in Leinart

Yeah, I agree. Leinart will fit in NY. He is just amazing! He should've been #1 in last year's draft before he stayed in the NCAA. Although I'd be happier with D'Brick!

There is NO doubt at all Matt Leinart would have gone to San Francisco #1 overall had he entered the draft.

We'd have a shot at Bush, Leinart, or Young. DO IT!

I agree...I think this would have to be a no brainer for the Jets. You would only be moving up two slots...the compensation will be great, but it shouldn't be as bad as what the Giants gave up to get Manning...

We still need New Orleans to get Brees though...this was just a specualtion thread more than anything.

It depends on the cost, and what we get for Abraham. I'd lean towards not doing it, since I'd rather trade down and not up.

Oh I am suprised. I thought you were in favor of a move like this? Not a big deal if you aren't I could understand some of the drawbacks into trading up.

I just feel at this point if we can get our hands on a guy like Leinart we can't pass it up. We need that kind of player desperately.

If NO does sign Brees, it will be between the Jets and Titans for Leinart. I'll trust the FO if they feel they have to have him.

That'd be an interesting situation in Tennessee. McNair's mentoree or Chow's QB?

However I dont think there is a NEED to trade up. If NO gets Brees then unless someone makes a blockbuster they are gonna stay put and take Super Mario or DBrick. Tennessee would prolly take Young because him and McNair are tight and then Leinart would fall into our laps at 4. However if Tennessee decides to go with Leinart instead cause of the Chow connection, then so be it, stay at 4 and either get DBrick if hes there or see if they cant trade down a spot or 2 pickin up an extra 2 or 3 and then take Cutler or Hawk.

But I dont see the need in giving up picks to move up 2 spots where in the end we might not have too.

Take the gamble and roll the dice.

I'm pretty sure Cutler has a relationship with Jeff Fisher...

What the hell is Brees thinking? Why would he want to go to NO?

This has to be a ruse to drive up the price on Miami. If he signs with the Saints, it tells me his shoulder is worse off than anyone knows. (except SD)He would then want as much guaranteed money as possible.

  17. Ithink ND will stay at 2 and take Fergy. In which case, we'll hae 3 choices at 4.

    1. Take the best QB available
    2. Take Mario Williams
    3. Trade down

Im gonna make this very simple....

Trading up would be a bradway move. (F***** retarted move)
Trading down or staying (a smart move) is a good GM move.

God i hope Tanny is a good GM.

They might take Hawk. Remember New Orleans has had a pitiful defense for nearly the last decade. They might give up on drafting offense (and they have been... Brown, McCalister, Stallworth) and try and go defense.

I think the Saint wont trade down. If they sign Brees they will draft D Brick to improve their Oline to protect Brees and Tennesse would take Vince Young because he would be a better fit and if they end up trading for Daunte Culpepper then I think they will draft Mario Williams. That leaves Leinart at 4 for us to take him. Its possible it could happen. Everyone thinks its impossible for it to happen but it could. Everyone thought Aaron Rogers would go number 1 overall last year and he ended up falling to 24.
