    Looking at the off-season moves:
    - Signed 2 road-grading guards in Colon & Peterman
    - Invested a good amount of money in Goodson and Ivory
    - Drafted 3 OL & 1 FB
    - Didn't addres WR & TE needs either in FA or through the draft
    - Our 4 Qbs are Garrard, Sanchez, Smith, McElroy
    - Rex likes to run it

Is it possible that Mohrninweg will run the ball quite a bit this year? It sure seems like the team is being set up to do so.

We can only hope that "Ground and Pound" is dead and gone. This is 2013 not 1973 and its a passing league now. I'd like to think Rex got the memo. If not, then I wish Rex well in his next job.

we'll run the ball, but we won't be "ground and pound." remember for WCO, the pass sets up the pass and the run, so we should be pass oriented.

i know we didn't address any playmakers in the draft or FA really, but thats because the value wasn't there. our WR core isn't that bad too (when healthy)

if you have any understanding of morningwood you know this is a silly question.

you will be begging for them to run the ball more by week 4. trust me.

I know I know... but... you can't deny the direction of our off-season moves can you? Since he supposedly is a versatile OC maybe he'll incorporate the run more? Otherwise why move the way we did.

i really cant say i know. i hope we will run the ball more. i think you are right and we have set ourselves up to run the ball more... but i just dont see the history there.

granted i have not followed him through his entire career but what i know says we will run the ball sparsely. and the wco looks at short passes as run game replacements. it views them as the same thing.

I watched a lot of Eagles games last year, and Eagle fans were constantly wondering why they passed so much when McCoy and Jackson were right there to run it...

I think we'll get sick of seeing Holmes et al during the season. It won't be a bad thing, though.

I think the backs will be pretty active but a lot of it will be catching passes on screens and stuff. Might run it a bit more than a typical WCO due to crappy WRs.

That was basically why they were so happy to see him go. He would call pass plays instead of running plays in a situation that didn't warrant it.

If this is true, then this is what you get with a HC that is clueless about executing a offense.

That remains to be seen. I personally think MM can do a good job here. With Geno or David leading the team, there's no reason to think that he won't do well.

    Come over to the light.

    1. You cannot run good WCO without competent OL up front as well; so, investing highly in OL doesn't necessarily mean you're going to run all the time.

    2. Ivory and Goodson will have their roles in the offense both as a rusher and receiver out of the backfield. (Remember "Stone Hand" Greene?)

    3. Bohanon pick sure looks like WCO pick to me - while lacking ideal power for full back, he sure has the vision and soft hands to make a quick work out of short yardage situation. On top of that, he will never even be half the blocker that Moose was. That pick has WCO written all over if you didn't see it.

    4. As for Peterman and Colon; I'd say, expect the Jets to draft OG high again next year. They are more or less hold-the-fort guys in my eyes, and frankly I think Brian Winters fits better at RG than at LG. He looks like a mauler with wrestling technique at his disposal. Not these super-athletic OGs that have nimble feet. (Or that's my expectation to say the least.) Aboushi and Campbell are both project guys that will provide depth down the road, probably in 3 or 4 years at the earliest. After Winters, Jets don't have anybody to start at LG (and I don't think I want to see Vlad fucking things up to kill Nacho.)

How about Warmack? I don't think he fit the WCO as well either. (And he was that 'STAR' OG at #9 - you had to avoid that.)

    5. TE need not being addressed; yes. That is one area Jets could not shore up this off-season. Remember, though; this team was lacking talent all over the roster, and when the team is in that situation, you can't fill all the needs in one draft. Jets still need to find competent OLBs, safeties and TEs. Oh, of course, they need to strike gold with QB. (Geno Smith doesn't look like one - I never liked that kid. His college games failed to wow me, if anything.) That's a lot of holes to fill in one draft. AND Jets had needs at OL, RB and with Revis departing, CB. I'd say they did well with what they had.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus, I am inclined to think that, the offense will rely heavily on WRs. RBs and FBs will have to carry the load for TEs this season.

That said, I am well-aware of Mornhinweg's penchant to throw - screens, to shorts, to intermediate digs, ins and outs, to deep down the field. I actually hope Rex keeps things in check - because, whether you run the ball to set up the pass, or pass to set up the run, you have to be able to run at one point or another. Chris Ivory is a good back, (so is Goodson) and Jets will have better line up front this season (or so I hope.) Thus, it will add extra dimension for the defense to prepare for, to be able to run when they have to.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe Jets will draft OL high again for a few drafts (one OT and one OG - then after that, LT and C.) Jets are still without competent OLBs - that's where the 1st round pick will go next year (provided there is a prospect.)

So, next year's priority looks like this to me:

    1. QB - GOOD ONE ONLY!
    2. OLB x2
    3. OL x2
    4. TE
    5. Safeties

That's another full draft - maybe these will be filled in two years. That's the price you pay for constantly trading up all the fucking time. (Die in a fire, T-Bomb. Detonate yourself, fuckhead.)

Ah, I see. I forgot he was HC of the lions, I also don't remember how long they gave him but it strikes me that he had some success there, didn't he? :)

no it was really really ugly in detroit.

he became semi famous for not taking the ball in an overtime game and losing on the first possession.

    it was ugly. 5 - 27 over 2 years.

my real issue is how often i said RUN THE FUCKING BALL at his offense in philly. i often blamed andy reid but morningwood was there as the oc for much of it.

i have a few friends who are eagles fans and it used to drive them NUTS that they would never run the ball enough.
