Hey old timers (like me), this game tonight reminded me of the 1991 Monday nite game between the Jets and Bears (4th game of that year, I think). I was thinking about that in OT tonite . Big difference was that we obviously won this one. A lot of the same though--On the road, jets in control most of the game, Blair Thomas/Dwight Lowery blow chances to seal it, other team scores on about last play of regulation, jets drive down the field. Leahy misses, Feely converts. I never understood why Coslet didn't get the ball in the middle of the field for that field goal attempt. Mangini or someone else had the sense to do that tonite.
The funny thin is I was thinking about that game and remember the radio call of Marty Glickman where after the bears won it in OT he said "you can go to bed unhappy".
It reminded me more of the fake spike game, especially considering we blew a 24-6 lead then too, in a first-place showdown. But at least this year ISN'T the same old Jets, cause they definitely would have lost this game.
ummmm the old mentality is gone, there is a new one forming called a winners mentality.... its time to erase the "wait until something bad happens" aura in this franchise... I'm not going to be the fucking Chicago Cubs of the NFL - no more of this bullshit.... change the collect thought of this franchise, change their success.
This game did remind me a bit of the Chicago 91 game, but it also reminded me of a Miami/Jets game in 82 (not 100% on the year). Bobby Jackson, the Jets' DB, had a chance to seal the win with an INT on the fins final drive; tonight I couldn't believe when Lowery didn't catch that ball that went right to him.
Good observation NDmick, always waiting for the other shoe to drop, now we control our own destiny, 2nd seed in the conference is well in our grasp...:jets:
At the end of the regulation I was expecting a Marino-like fake spike on 3rd down. Think the jets were ready for that? Didnt look like it.
I was thinking about the game too. Except -- in that game -- Jets made terrible mistake to lose the game -- here -- they just blew the lead.
