Time to make the trip North in December and outnumber the Bills fans at their own "home game"!!!....the REAL fans will be there.

Rogers seeks more of Bills in TorontoBusiness First of Buffalo
An executive with Rogers Communications Inc. says the company wants to bring more Buffalo Bills games to Toronto and indicates the team is supportive.

Phil Lind, vice chairman of Rogers, told the Toronto Star that market is ready for more National Football League games beyond those dates it hosts involving the Bills. Rogers recently surveyed ticket buyers to the Bills Toronto Series.

Lind not only said Rogers favors adding additional games to the eight-game, five-year package but told the paper the Bills do as well.

“It’s hard to say when and where it will happen, but over time we hope there’ll be more games here and Buffalo (ownership) hopes there’ll be more games here,” Lind said in the interview.

Back in March, word of Rogers plan to survey customers about adding more Bills’ games in Toronto also raised concerns about the team’s long-term future in Buffalo. The Bills responded by down playing the notion.

“We are aware that there is interest in expanding the Bills in Toronto Series by an additional regular season game in the future. We’re also aware that our hosts have conducted a survey as part of their internal process of evaluating whether to propose an expansion of the series. We have an agreement to play one regular season game for the next four seasons. We have no agreement, nor has there ever been one, to play an additional regular season game in Toronto. Any such future agreement would require consultation and the approvals of Erie County, Empire State Development Corporation and the NFL owners,” the Bills statement said.

Rogers is paying $78 million to the Bills for marketing rights to the games. In 2008, two games — one preseason, one regular season — were played at Rogers Centre. Ticket prices averaged more than $180 per seat, causing some backlash. This week, the company announced it was reducing prices by some 17 percent and upped the number of seats priced at $99 to 11,000 in the domed stadium that holds just over 52,000 for football. The Bills will play the New York Jets in Toronto on Thursday, Dec. 3.

By comparison, the average cost of a season ticket at Ralph Wilson Stadium, which seats 73,697, is $51, lowest among the 32 NFL teams.

I'll be there...we need to find a common place to get together before the game for some tailgaiting. I don't believe it is allowed in the parking lot. If anyone was at last year's game, some info would be appreciated.

I will def be there but too bad it is a Thursday cuz I will be working the next day....ah well....it will be sick for sure.....nationally televised too cuz it's an NFL Network game....

Tix will be easy to get and they will be way below face value.....last year ppl were getting 100 dollor seats off the scalpers for like 20 bucks...

TORONTO -- All our lives we've been waiting for the NFL.

Today we have to take a moment and wonder why.

After the most talked about, promoted, hyped football game in Toronto, all there was left at the end was a sense of ambivalence.

Who won besides the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills' bank account? Maybe Bill Parcells. He was smart enough to stay home.

But the first NFL regular season game in Canada ended up accomplishing what nobody really envisioned. It angered people in Buffalo. It angered people in Toronto. It cost Rogers Communications all kinds of money. And it entertained almost no one.

"We don't have a clue," Buffalo receiver Lee Evans said after the 16-3 Dophins win yesterday at the Rogers Centre.

He was talking about the Bills offence. He could have been talking about the promoters of the game, the Rogers people who put out US$78-million for eight games and then assaulted just about everybody's sensibilities with ridiculous prices and an introductory press conference that played the public for rubes.

He could have been talking about the stadium operators or those running a tailgate beer-stand who refused to serve two 50-plus Bills fans who failed to produce I.D.

There was much talk coming in about the Bills losing a home game in December -- being played so late out of courtesy to the CFL -- losing a cold weather game in which the team from Florida was expected to shiver itself into submission. Instead, the Bills got a neutral site game in which hardly anyone cheered for hardly anyone.

This had a corporate Super Bowl feel to it. A lot of people paid a lot to be here and then weren't sure what to do.

So being Toronto people, they did what they do at Leafs games. They sat quietly, like this was some kind of theatre. Perhaps theatre of the asburd.

"I think we had a lot of fans here," Evans said. "But sometimes you couldn't tell (if this was a home game). We didn't give them much to cheer about. We didn't get to find out how many Bills fans were here."

Last week, in cold weather, the Bills scored three points. This week, inside a dome, they matched that number.

"Rock bottom," Evans said.

It reminded me of the old Harry Neale line, edited for football: The Bills can't score at home. The Bills can't score on the road. The Bills can't score outside. The Bills can't score inside. Their failure as a team is they have to find another place and another way to play.

People paid mortgage payments for a pair of tickets to watch J.P. Losman play quarterback. That doesn't seem fair to anybody.

And the suddenly-tied-for-first-place Dolphins aren't exactly from the Bob Griese days.

The announced attendance was 52,134. Some of them apparently paid. Those who attended the high school championship last week were given freebies. Those who work for Rogers or the Blue Jays could have free tickets. Outside, you could have had scalpers' seats for less than $50. That makes this event dubious as a way of impressing the NFL.

What also was evident was the emotional draw that makes sport special -- being here for your team, caring, being passionate -- loses its appeal in what ostensibly was a neutral-site game.

This doesn't make the CFL any more or less appealing in Toronto -- although having a semi-full stadium, by whatever means, is more interesting than having it half empty.

This kind of series of games, with one preseason and one regular season game over, seems to establish next to nothing.

Is Toronto closer to the Bills? No. Is it closer to the NFL? No. History was made yesterday. We just don't know what any of it meant.
