I think he would be a good addition to the LB room. Upgrade over Quincy. This would be a good find for JD who I think has done a very good job of filling holes in free agency. The Jets are hosting a visit with free agent linebacker Kwon Alexander on Tuesday, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN. Alexander, 27, played 12 games last season for the New Orleans Saints, starting eight. He had one interception, 3.5 sacks, and 50 total tackles. Before joining the Saints, Alexander played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers, starting with his rookie season in 2015 for Tampa. Alexander was a Pro Bowl selection in 2017, when he had three interceptions and 97 total tackles for the Bucs. Alexander, who has experience playing middle and outside linebacker spots, could be a solid and versatile addition for the Jets. The Saints linebacker received a 53.9 grade from PFF last season, which ranked him 34th out of 66 qualified linebackers who appeared in at least 500 snaps. However he was graded at 67.6 in terms of coverage, an area the Jets struggled with from their linebacker core. That 67.6 grade ranked Kwon as the 12th best coverage linebacker with the same minimum snap quantity.
I in no way want to dump Quincy, in fact I like him , but Kwon on is much better against the pass. We need both.
Great player when healthy but finished last 4 years in Injured Reserve if I am not mistaken. I am all for it if it is a cheap team friendly deal depending on playing time.
They need somebody to replace Blake Cashman's absence. Makes sense for depth though and maybe could start if Hamsah and Sherwood aren't ready for larger roles
Great veteran depth signing that is still young and knows the system. Don't expect him to play the whole year but as a cheap depth rotational piece I wouldn't mind it.
