cbssportsline.com is reporting that the jets named or will name a guy as asst. gm saturday. He was with the eagles and has been with a few other teams. Also said that Terry Boobway is getting a new contract (must have been a reward for Drob, Thomas and Nugent high draft selections) and is getting reassigned.

So the Jets are now officially a corporation. Shunt the trash to the side, instead of putting it out.

Let it be recorded somewhere that Terry Bradway took over the most successful 5 year Jet's plan since 1970 and turned it into trash over the next 5 seasons.

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Jets have hired Scott Cohen for their newly created position of assistant general manager, according to a person with the team.

Cohen will work with general manager Mike Tannenbaum on day-to-day operations, the person said on condition of anonymity Friday night because the team hadn't yet announced the hiring.

Cohen, 39, spent the last seven seasons as Philadelphia's director of pro personnel.

The person with the team also said Jets player personnel director Terry Bradway and college scouting director Joey Clinkscales will be getting new titles with the team and their contracts are being finalized. JoJo Wooden will continue to direct the Jets' pro personnel department.

Cohen joined the Eagles in 2001 after spending the previous two seasons with Jacksonville as assistant director of pro scouting. Before joining the Jaguars, Cohen spent seven seasons in various capacities with Washington.

  6. This maybe the guy who is replacing Dick Haley who retired acouple years back and had a big time say in terms of scouting and player evaluations.

Just one question: What happened to Jesse Kaye??

Love this move. This is like getting a BIG TIME FA OR DRAFT PICK. People always sleep on adding good personel people.

What's Cohen's 40 time and how many reps did he do?

Actually Bradway has done a great job in his new role as our director of player personnel. I think he really excels in that role.

i was just going to say that too. people constantly bash him, i cant say theyre wrong for bashing him as a GM. as far as a scout the guy is nasty. you know theres alot of talk going on when you trade up for Revis and Harris. and im thinking its someone like Tannenbaum pleading the case.

when we stop finding 2 bonafide players a draft ill start bashing bradway. and dont bring me shit from Herm cuz were discussing his new role of Scouting Director.

    I agree

Leon Washington in the 4th round? Brilliant
Kerry Rhodes in the 4th round? One of the best NFL draft value picks in the last ten years.

Bradway has a keen eye for talent- his GM skills were clearly lacking though so this job is perfect for him. Great move by the Jets shoring up the infrastructure.

I totally agree. While he was in WAY over his head as a GM, he does seem to consistently find some very good talent in the latter rounds of the draft. As Clint Eastwood said, "A Man must know his limits."

For reference, Terry Bradway's 5th, 6th and 7th round picks when he was Jet's GM:

    2001 - 7th James Reed, Tupe Peko
    2002 - 5th Jonathan Goodwin
2003 - 5th Derek Pagel, Matt Walters, 6th Brooks Bollinger, 7th Dave Yovanovits
2004 - 5th Erik Coleman, 6th Marko Kavka, 7th Darrell McClover, Trevor Johnson, Derrick Ward, Rashad Washington
2005 - 5th Andre Maddox, 6th Cedric Houston, Joel Dreessen, 7th Harry Williams

According to the Jet's roster on ESPN NONE of these players is still on the roster. Finding gems late... Yeah.

Yeah the rhodes pick was a great one but idk about the best value pick in the last 10 years. Does tom brady in the 7th round ring a bell?

Derrick Ward - Started for the Giants Super Bowl team in 5 games last season.

James Reed - Has started 32 games with the Chiefs and Jets.

Darrell McClover - 16 special teams in the final five games of the regular season in 2006 for the Bears. Ranked 2nd on the Jets in 04 with 25 special teams tackles, averaging one ST tackle per game in 04.

Rashad Washington - In four seasons, he played in 48 games and tallied 69 special teams tackles, 22 defensive tackles, 1.5 sacks and one pass defensed.

Not bad for 7th-round picks. I mean, seriously, what do you expect these guys to be, hall of fame players? You are lucky to even get any production from these guys. Most are depth chart fillers, with the occasional striking of gold every once and awhile. I'll take it. I honestly don't mind picking up role players in the later rounds.

Jonathan Goodwin - Saints starting center

Erik Coleman - 100+ tackles in each of his first three seasons to go along with two sacks and seven interceptions. 49 starts over 4 seasons with the Jets. Starting safety with the Falcons now.

Not to mention Bradway's great picks, Jonathan Vilma, Kerry Rhodes, Santana Moss, Kareem McKenzie, and Jerricho Cotchery. And while a few of his other picks weren't as great as the previous ones, Victor Hobson has had 343 tackles with 11 sacks and 3 interceptions over the past five seasons, B.J. Askew was an alternate on the NFC Pro Bowl roster last season. Justin Miller was the 2006 AFC Pro Bowl Returner. Despite sucking with the Raiders besides his first season in Oakland (1600 all purpose yards, 11 touchdowns), LaMont Jordan was productive during his tenure with the Jets, running behind Curtis Martin.

    you conveniently leave out

thomas and mcgraw 1 and 2 in 2002 (pass on ed reed)
3 picks including coles for drob in 03
we don't even have moss because we had to recoup coles
jolley and nugent for a #1 pick
justin mac for a #2 pick
    derrick strait in rd 3
martin and chrebet 7 and 8 extentions at age 30
marvin jones 5 year extension and he played 2 more years
I don't think Dumbway ever drafted one guy who made the pro bowl AS A JET
oh yeah...according to you, he got us a few roles players in rd 7--LET'S GET HIM BACK AS GM!

Who exactly is contributing for the Jets at this point?

I'm sorry, but if he had drafted talent it would be sitting on our roster helping the team win games. His early picks are mostly gone with very little gotten in return. His late picks are ALL gone with very little gotten in return.

Are you honestly making the case that Terry Bradway did a good job of finding talent for the Jets roster when the 4th round is the only round that is still represented in any significant numbers there?

If you are, then I'm not sure how to make the case to you that he was a bad GM. I mean if the criteria of being a good GM is that a couple of your 4th round picks work out then EVERYBODY in the NFL is at least a good GM and most of the GM's are GREEEEAAAATTT! Which of course still leaves Bradway as below the curve even by your convoluted reckoning,
