No way. Jones got molested at RT. He started playing better at LT but was still nothing to rave about.

It would have been cool to move up to 26ish and grab DeAngelo Williams. But I realize that that made a good decision going with Mangold. With one swipe of the brush, we sweeped up the underperformers on our line and substituted them with good talent.

Let's be real though, these guys havent even sniffed the grass on an NFL field. I'll reserve judgement on thier ability, but based on thier skill and our needs on offense, good picks.

It seems a lot of people are really hungry for that SB appearance and have forgotten we are in a rebuilding period.

If we got Leinart what were we going to do with Chad, Ramsey and Brooks? Chad is still a big question mark but it can go either way and when hes healthy hes great. Ramsey is alright but maybe all he needs is a change of scenary. Look what happened to Moss, good with the Jets/ outstanding with the Redskins. So Ramsey has potential to be good and it remains to be seen.

So now we get two offensive lineman, best of their class who will give these QBs and RBs time to let routes and holes develop. We get a 2nd rounder next year as drop only a few spots this year. A 6th pick, eh who cares but we are rebuilding and with now having two second picks next year its a good choice.

    A+

    B. They still have to show they can make the leap to the NFL, but I cannot find fault with our FO and their reasoning here. A coach would not have to study much game film to see where our biggest weakness was last year. I feel we corrected it with some quality players, who, with some maturing in the pros, should be solid, possibly probowl caliber linemen.

    B+...

We really will have a solid O-line for a while now as we get the 2 best offensive lineman in the draft. That's okay in my book...

AND we get a 2nd round selection next season.

You could not be more wrong. We had a QB in Pennington ... Oline got him and Fielder killed within seconds of each other ... remember?

Two players that were ranked #1 at their respective positions. So far for me, my only dissapointment was not taking L. White at 35.

    Grade: F-

The way the draft Board played out showed we overvalued O-line. Justice/McNeil/Latui/Winston/Giles all lasted past middle of 2nd round. Meaning we could have started collecting high quality O-line after our 4 and 29 picks. Trading down the 35 was also horrendous (who cares about a 6th rounder, and the Redskins will likely be good this year, making that 2nd rounder in 07 less valuable)

I would of much rather prefered:
    1) A trade down with our 4, to get either Cutler or Leinart
    2) Addai with our 29
    3) Justice with our 35

Pick O-line, D-line, and 2ndary depth in round 3 and on.

In case, the JETS FO didnt realize we need some playmakers on both sides of the ball, and we have done absolutely anything to get playmakers.

I went with the B because we did get some awesome players at positions of needs and did not reach for them.

However, in retrospect we could've gotten a good LT in the second with Justice and Winston still available

Exactly we could have had Davis Mangold and Justice or Winston.

A slam dunk A+. The Jets retooled their OL by getting the best tackle and center in the draft. They do need a franchise QB, but don't have to get one this year. Could still take Croyle or Clemens.

After seeing every OLman fall in the draft............... C+. We could have had more pics and linemen only a shade worst then the two we got, plus some skill players.

Well, obviously its revisionist history, but considering the Saints got Jeff Faine when they traded down I doubt they would have passed on Mangold at 34.

We could have had white, justice, or williams but we would have had all the coaches time tied up in talking to parole officers.

So now the FO should've predicted that all these OL were gonna fall! You know if we would've done anything else then all these guys would've been gone and everyone would bitching that we didn't get any good O linemen to protect the QB!! I give them a A easily...Good Job FO!

Posts like these tell me that this franchise is headed in the right direction.

IMO, Mangold pick is A+, and Ferguson is B+/A-, so I'll give them an A.
