Jets | Team conducting pre-draft visit with practically all the top 10 players Mon, 17 Apr 2006 17:49:20 -0700 Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the New York Jets will conduct a pre-draft visit with all the top prospects, so we can stop talking about it now. April 20.
I love seeing these guys keep everyone on their toes. No one has a clue as to what they are up to. This offseason has gone pretty well. The only question I have is about these second and third tier lineman being signed. I don't want to see a line being slapped together but if these are depth signings, I couldn't be happier. Suppose we'll know by the draft.
I know we are just covering our bases but Ngata has bust written all over him and the only reason his stalk is high is because of the resurgence of the 3-4
Fine, let's not talk about Ngata. We're just fine at the NT spot in the 3-4. No way we could possibly take Ngata. Nevermind, forget this thread. Mods, just delete this, Penny's got all the answers.
Good point....isn't this entire website dedicated to discussing gossip and little news releases just like this one? Please Penny! See all the previous threads on D-Brick, Leinart, AJ Hawk, Davis, Young, Cutler, etc, etc.
Ngata will need at least a couple of years to develop (a la Dewayne Robertson). And its not as though the Jets will draft him but its nice to see a regime do their due diligience. I am surprised not more teams take the time visit college players in their environment to get a sense of who they are and where they are coming from. A lot can be learned. Imagine if the Titans had visited Pac-Man last year. When the guy rolls up a post-dinner spliff and offers it to his future employer, you may have some valuable insight.
No need to go all postal. I am not surprised by this, since they have been meeting with everyone, but it opens up the opportunity for some discussion. I find one thing interesting though. The only lower round pick they have been reported to have met with is that QB, Clemens I think? That might be more telling than anything.
At #4, I would never do it. DT in the 3-4 is an important position, but I'd rather have a DE, LT, QB, or RB. To trade down and get him is a possibility though. We need someone like Ngata. Picking him when we have so many other needs might not be the best idea, but a guy like Ngata is exactly what we need at the NT spot in the 3-4.
He may be.. I don't know too much about him, as he wasn't projected to go as high as 4, so I haven't looked into him at all. However, it's a good job by the jets checking him out. While I don't think this automatically means they are looking to deal down, it at least shows they are examining all avenues, which is something I like to see.
if Clemens would clean up his face and grow hair I'd like him more, I don't like QBs that look like a bald Kurt Warner...
Wow buddy. I really was just kidding. I have no grief towards us visiting with Ngata. Didn't mean to piss you off. Do I think we will take Ngata at 4? No, but he is worth talking about.
