the jets will NOT draft a QB in the early rounds of the 2006 draft.
too many other holes to fill.
they have their eyes on 2007 draft re the QB position ( Brady Quinn/notre dame ).

If they keep Penny I don't think that they'll draft a QB.

if they keep pennington which reportedly will probably happen, they should trade down and get deangelo williams and an O-Lineman or something

With the reports of the Jets and Chad inching closer to a deal, I'm really starting to buy into this theory.

With Chad and Curtis apparently back in the picture for 2006, I think a very likely scenario is to trade down and Abraham to overhaul the O-Line and load up on D. That way if the Jets are as bad as most think (and Chad/Curtis truly are done), at least all of the other surrounding pieces will be put in place for a stud rookie QB and/or RB would have the supporting cast to have a better chance of succeeding.

It's not a bad idea to give Pennington one more shot. However, if this is the case, they will draft a QB somewhere in rounds 3-5, and sign a guy like Aaron Brooks as well. If Pennington fails to come back from his injury(something that is more likely to happen), and the rookie doesn't set the world on fire, then I would imagine that QB will be the #1 priority entering next years draft.

I could see them drafting Omar Jacobs this year, or maybe even Drew Olsen.

Where does Bollinger fit into your plan?

You can't guarantee that we will have the chance a draft a great QB next year. Plus, it will take another year or 2 until that QB is ready to start. Get our QB this year while we have a high draft pick. It's the most important position in the game.

I agree we won't draft a QB this year on Day 1. But Brady Quinn? No chance, we would have 6 wins or less to get him.

I hope the Chad contract negotions work out. If not I have no idea what the Jets plan to do. I would think we'd draft a QB this year though if we had no Chad.

with Pennington's questionable health, you really think they going to go into the season with Brooks as their number 2 QB?

Probably not, but I think that would be the wisest move.

jets are considering qb in rd1 with or without pennington on the team. you would never build your team banking on future prospect it on herad of. who is to say quinn wont get hurt this year or regress.

With the CBA talks breaking down, from a pure cap standpoint the Jets might not have any choice, but to give Chad another chance due to the enormous cost of cutting him.

I could be wrong, but I can't see the Jets keeping Chad, drafting a guy in round 3-4, and signing a vet. With Brooks under contract, doing all 3 seems a little excessive IMO. The most likely scenario is drafting or signing a guy, not doing both.

Maybe im not to right about this injury but I heard its hard from coming back from an injury like the one pennington got, yet alone 2 of them is unheard of. I wouldnt rest to much on penningtons shoulder, if ya no wut i mean....
