http://www.gbnreport.com/ "A bush in the hand? So how close did New Orleans come to trading Southern Cal RB Reggie Bush yesterday after Houston stunned everyone by selecting NC State DE Mario Williams with the top pick at the 2006 draft rather than the Heisman Trophy winning former Trojan. Nobody is saying publicly, but going by today?s news accounts, it probably wasn?t all that close. The Saints reportedly did receive calls from at least four teams, most notably the Jets and San Francisco, however, it does not appear that any of the four was willing to offer the Saints the "Ricky Williams-type deal"they were reportedly looking for in order to move the pick. Former Saints? Mike Ditka, of course set the bar for out of this world trades in 1999 when he traded the Saints whole draft in order to acquire Williams. In fact, the Saints weren?t looking fo quite that haul, although they reportedly did want at least three first rounders in exchange for Bush as of Friday and were still reportedly holding out for at least two #1s when they got on the clock. However, according to Saints? GM Mickey Loomis said Loomis, no teams even offered the equal value for the second pick on the value chart that most NFL teams use to evaluate draft-day trades. In the case of the Jets, for example, that would have meant, both the Jets? #1 picks, the 4th and 29th selections, plus a mid-third rounder. Indeed, in the end, the Saints didn?t even use their full time allotment, making the pick with five minutes remaining on the clock. " So, how many fans wanted Bush and would have gladly given our two 1st rounders and a third to get him? The Jets were once again cheap! Nice to seem some things don't change. lol
Dude, watch sportscenter and watch the game clips and highlights please. If you think we were cheap you have no football knowledge. With a draft this deep we would not have been cheap, but stupid to do this trade. Have fun watching Try Wingo
listen, we cant give up our front end of the draft for one player!!! why dont people get it. I dont tihnk reggie would be doing much! look what out line did to martin last year, and he was the league leader the year before. WE NEED LINEMEN! and if we only had pick no 2, and then didnt have another untill 4, it would be kinda hard to get them. All bush would be doing is avg 2.5 ypc and sitting on the beach with his 70 million dollar contract
I love the pick at #29 but the rest of the draft has sucked. Ferguson is undersized for his position and not worth the #4 pick. We drafted a QB that is a shorter version of Pennington, and best of all a LB that no other team would have even touched until the fifth round. If they are as smart as some give them credit for they will draft Gabe.
Two great Olinemen and we still have our first rounder next year. I dont feel cheap. We all know that anyone can run behind a solid line. That is where u need to start to build a team. The sooner u people realize this the better. BTW im not commin back to these boards for a while, its only been a day since the draft and im sick of this allready.
Um...he was being sarcastic and making fun of the people who say we were cheap, not actually saying we're cheap.
When it comes down to it, Bush's price was too high for Tangini and I trust them enough to be comfortable with their choice. What type of OL was Reggie going to be running behind? Would have loved to have such a sexy pick and already have my Bush jersey pre-ordered, but.... just wasn't gonna happen.
