I found that pretty surprising. I thought with his athleticism that Keller would play a solid role in our offense. Given that he would line up all over the field, the guy definitely had his chances. But he never produced. Did Favre even throw to him on Sunday ? Anybody else surprised to see Keller be so invisible ?
I was!, I saw him on the field and am sure he has a great upside, but with Baker and Franks contributing, he will be a work in progress.
he caught one but it was called back bc of a penalty i wouldnt be worried bc we didnt throw that many passes and no one got that many catches
I was surprised, It is only the first game so I wouldn't be to concerned about his lack of production. I would honestly have to rewatch the game to even see if he was in there. Favre was under more pressure then I expected which would lead me to believe he would have tried for the TE's more but like I said id have to re-watch. Expect Keller to find is groove and solidify the #1 TE spot by mid season.
Jets were protecting the lead most of the game. With Nugent hurt, they wanted to kill much time as possible by running the game. Thus they put in the best to blocking TE on the field, which are Franks and Baker. As he gets better in blocking he will see more action. Why do you guys nitpick so much?
i wasn't all that surprised. baker got more time because he is more experienced right now. IT was the first game. PLus they were clearly protecting favre in the second half by severely limiting his throws.
I think I know why. favre does not have that familiarity yet. Franks, who he knows only had 2 catches I believe. Same with baker. I would not read anything into it. I fully expect by week 6 for the jets to run multiple 3TE sets.
Wow, people really jump to conclusions here. I was in no way attempting to suggest Keller is a bust or he sucks or any other foolishness like that. I was just surprised that he wasn't more involved in the passing game. Especially considering the success Keller had in the preseason. I fully expect Dustin to become an integral part of the offense as the season progresses. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the top 5 or 6 for team receptions at the end of the year.
Well, take it any way you want but I read something Favre said that made me worry about his relationship with Coles. He said one pass in the end zone was absolutely a TD and Coles turned differently than Favre expected him to ending up with it being an incompletion.
It sounds strange but Favre really has a good array of weapons on offense right now. I think Keller will get more involved in the offense as Favre gets more comfortable. When that point comes I'm sure Keller will be a great complement to the somewhat forgotten/underated Baker.
I'd be willing to bet that you're purposely taking this out of context and rewording it to make it sound bad. Can you give us a link to an article or interview?
