Anyone sentimental? It passed my mind, that was our last pre-season game. I took my wife and kid, they said what a dump the place was, it was dirty, the field turf is worn. I told my wife all I need is a seat and a place to piss. The place does have that feeling more then ever, you could tell they stopped taking care of the place. If we were staying, new seats and a power wash would take care of it. I was bummed that they closed Yankee stadium but now, with the new place, I realize that the old place was a dump and I would never want to go back. I hope I have the same feeling with the new place. Of course, I am sitting in the UD and not paying the PSL's . If I was paying 5-10k, I would expect a lot more. In the new Yankee stadium the general public has the Hard Rock to hang and drink, I am lucky i have passes to the Mohegan Sun which is great. At this place I don't think they have anything for the Non-Psl people. On a rainy day for a 4pm game, I would love to take the train to the game and hang at a sports bar with huge TV's inside the stadium, eat, drink and watch the 1pm games. They are stupid if you ask me. I am not gonna get a PSL because they don't have one for the UD but I would use it in a situation like I described. They could print money, that's 27K patrons that you are ignoring. I love tailgating but top notch sports bar would defintely come in handy occasionally.
Interesting question. I can't see Jets management turning away paying customers to any of their lounges, but who knows? This whole thing hasn't made a lot of sense all along anyway. As far as the old stadium, I was fine with it and most season ticketholders probably agree with that. Some color renovations and a name change would have worked, but that of course wouldn't take care of the real reason why the new stadium is being built, an excuse to rake in much, much more money from morons like myself who are willing to pay it.
Xanadu, if it ever opens, should have places for the "common folk" to hang out at, before and after the game. I think that was the whole point of building that monstrosity.
I hate that w/ the new Stadiums they have sports bars and lounges for the fans. The building looks empty, the Stadiums aren't as loud. It doesn't feel like a real game.
i am very sad that was the last full price scrimmmage ticket i had to pay at the old building. if my tailgate every dies down the train from hoboken is located right near my friends bar,Texas Arizona.that is where my pregame would take place.
Heh... heh... Don't be too sad. Woody will give you many future opportunities to squander money on "preseason" full-price tickets in the new mausoleum.
The Jets played their pre-season games at Giants Stadium dating back to when it was built, even when our real home games were still at Shea. Their first regular season game there was at the Giants, a 26-7 win in 1981 when Shea was still home. The Sack Exchange kicked the shit out of Phil Simms that day.
Aren't the Jets playing the last regular season game at Giants Stadium? So if both teams are out of the playoffs (or god willing the Jets host a home playoff game and the Giants don't) then we'd play the last game ever at the stadium. That would be a great time for Jets fans to take out their frustrations by tearing up seats, starting fires, tearing down goalposts etc. I look forward to it.
Unused tickets to the LAST PS game at the MEADOWLANDS: 50 bucks each. What a deal!!! PM me if you're interested!!
Looks Like I missed my change to see a preseason game live at giants stadium. Cant wait to miss all the preseason games in the new stadium. Now it just more money to waste on the preseason
To be exact, 26 years. It's good to blow off a little steam a few times a century, especially if it's somebody else's place and we're leaving.
Man, I hated that team up in Buffalo at the time. It felt fucking fantastic to beat them after the unfortunate Dennis Byrd game. What were we, 17 point dogs that game? Even though we went 4-12 that season, that's one of my favorite Jets wins ever. Byrd was one of my faves on that team and you could really feel the way they pulled it out for him that game.
They should do that even if it isn't the last game played there. It would be great if they did it and the Giants are scheduled for the last game.
Yeah, especially since it was the defense that got the turnover and scored, because there was no way Browning Nagle was going to get it done. That was the 1992 game up there. I thought you were referring to our home finale at Shea in 1983, a Saturday loss to the Steelers that eliminated us in a year we were thinking Super Bowl. The fans ripped up the seats and destroyed Shea, it was Terry Bradshaw's last game, too.
Yeah, what was it 52-7 or some bullshit like that on Mon. night football? Who was it Brian Washington, in the win? He had 2 pics, one for a TD. I know that was nothing but a speed bump for the Bills, but for us, that was our season.
