Falcons | Team releases Hartwell Fri, 2 Mar 2007 11:59:40 -0800 The Atlanta Falcons announced Friday, March 2, the release of LB Edgerton Hartwell. i think we should give him a shot if he's healthy (hes probably not but if its not too serious) because he was a damn good run stuffing ILB next to ray lewis (whos very similar to vilma) in 2003
Good point...The MAJOR concern is his injury history. If he could somehow stay healthy, very doubtful, he would be a good pickup... But after his achilles I wonder how much speed he has lost.
Definitely someone to look at I think. I like him alot whenever I saw him, and he's drawn alot of praise as a "sleeper" guy for a long time.
I'm giving this a bump because I feel this could be a very very good under the radar pickup for a bargain... His best seasons were in the 3-4 in Baltimore...He's got the size 6'1 250, to play alongside Vilma, and he is 28/29 so still has some years in him... He got his payday from Atlanta and since has been injured both years, including a Achilles tear... So since he's been injured, I feel he'd come at no more than $1.5 mil a year with a low-risk high reward type guy...His speed probably is a little slower because of the achilles, but he is since 2 years removed from that injury... Kenyon Coleman and Ed Hartwell and i'd call it a day...That'd make me happy for the defense and the Jets offseason.
i think we shouldnt look at him. the falcons are going through the whole re-tooling phase on d, nabbing whoever they can, and if they feel he cant contribute something has got to be wrong. maybe bring him in for a physical but shit i doubt hed clear that.
What about a NT, 6'2 325 Marcus Bell is still out on the free agent market and he won't be demanding a crazy contract. He would fit in perfectly with the JETS.
Marcus Bell is pretty awful, but he's young and wide. He might be an upgrade over Rashad Moore last year, but he's not an every down player. -X-
I would think Hartwell is a step up from Matt Chatham and Brad Kassell whom I thought were rather awful last season.

Lol, aren't we trying to make a playoff run? Why would we go after someone you think is pretty awful? Robertson came up huge for us last year despite what most say...and he was pretty much not cut out for that position. With the off-season in fullswing I'm pretty sure they will attempt to add some weight to him to make him a more complete NT heading into the season. If memory serves correctly, Pouha was looking good before his season ending injury. I hope he's fully recovered and ready to contribute this season, we need another solid body at NT.
we have to figuer something out for the nose tackle position, from what i understand the crop this upcomming draft sucks!
hello, first time post sec 104.Love what you guys post.I am a big Vilma fan and have had season tickets since 1983.Favorite player of all time Joe Willie.
