I've been searching the web this morning for any bit of interesting Jets news and there have been slim pickings. However, I thought this blurb from The Daily News was intriguing: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2007/09/02/2007-09-02_marques_tuiasosopo_survives_final_cuts_f.html It seems a certainty that someone will be brought in at LG. The corner situation is interesting though. I hope they can make a move or two soon. It would be nice to get some more help before the Pats game. DbJ
I don't think this team will be ready for the Pats, even if they sign a LG. That Patriot DL is going to chew our OL to pieces. Any LG we do sign won't know enough about the offense and the blocking schemes to be effective. Adrien Clark? Wade Smith? Oh Lord, help us. CB I'm not so much worries about. Revis is going to be fine, although there will be the occasional rookie mistake, and I still like Barrett. Dyson/Revis would be the ideal starting tandem, though.
That IS lucky for us, but I think we're set at LG. NOt set as in, it's in great shape, but set as in, we're not going to do anything about it. Last year they showed they were willing to throw rookies in there and accept the problems it would cause in excahnge for the growth they would experience. I think we'll do it again this year.
We'll pull something off with the o-line. I'm usually a bit of a pessimist, but I have a good vibe about this team.
i completely agree. and in the long run, it may be worth it. in my opinion, i think Drew Coleman has progressed well, particularly from getting significant experience last year in meaningful games. hopefully, the same is true for guys like Bender, Stuckey, etc.
Can ya hum a few bars of that vibe? I'm looking for things to be positive about and the tune I'm hearing is kind of toneless and flat at the moment.
The Jets will be ready for opening day...Jacob Bender should be fine as he will get help from Mangold and the other lineman... I can't wait until 1PM next Sunday when I am screaming my head off.
News reports I've read where Mangini and Bender have been interviewed keep emphasizing what a good run blocker he is. I would bet the Jets try to somewhat catch the Pats off guard by running the ball right up Benders side. If they think he is that bad, then how prepared could they possibly be for us to attempt to use Bender as a weapon, and not a turnstyle?
