We are 5-0 when he throws < 20 passes a game. His other three wins came during the first 3 games of the season while we were running on all cylinders. I know we are a run first team anyway, but i've heard ppl on here saying we need to come out throwing the ball since they would probably be prepared for the run. I disagree, limit him to about 15 attempts and let them beat us, lets not beat ourselves. One more thing. I would like to see a couple deep balls.. seems like he throws them pretty well
I hate this stat. Of course, when we're winning the game we're going to run more and pass less. If we are behind we have to pass more. This seems like an obvious, meaningless thing that reporters bring up all the time.
Stick to the gameplan. It's still early. Let our running game do its job, and let our defense do their job. That's how we win games.
Yea, it's obvious, but sometimes Schottenheimer seems to forget this. Remember, we were only trailing the Falcons for less than 2 minutes but Schttenheimer still called a shitload of passes.
WSW don't hate on the stat. It is what it is. And BTW: not all teams are undefeated when their QB throws less than 20. Some teams are passing teams that win when they throw alot. Others are not pass oriented and they win when the grind it out. The stats clearly demonstrate that the Jets are better off running the ball. It just shows you where the strength of the Jets is - Running the ball. Sanchez performance remains critical to the Jets success he should get 17-20 passes and he needs to complete those balls and not commit turnovers. That is the recipe for Jets Victory. No reason to hate on the stats.
the thing however, is that despite our defense and run game, schotty likes to panic and start chucking even if we get down but a TD. Instead he should go for TOP and use the run game instead of panicking.
I see where WSW is coming from though. It this years recipe for victory...its a lot of pressure on the defense and a lot of pressure on a fan watching a game like the Colt game. We can go back and forth about that game all day long and not know how it would have turned out. Bottom line is that until you can let Sanchez go just a bit..a game like that could never be won in the playoffs. Its recipe for victory until you need to pass..and then you are screwed. There will come a point where you have to sacrifice a little to let this kid continue to grow..while I agree now isnt that time. And he is correct..it is obvious and meaningless. Regardless of what we did the first 10 games...Im getting a bit bored reading about it everyday. Not the constant threads..the constant stats. If Sanchez throws 2 int's this week...we lose...we get it.
Maybe I am the only one, but I have confidence in Sanchez' throwing ability now. He has had some great passes since the Falcons game.
