It's a tough thing to admit the team you love sucks and is for the most part, devoid of competitive talent. A lot of folks here want to blame Glenn for everything that is wrong with the team and that's not really fair. They expected too much, too soon. Especially from a rookie CS. Fact is, Glenn has made some rookie mistakes as HC especially on the defense. The Steve Wilks hire seems to be the worst mistake so far. Even bigger than the outsized contracts given to Wilson and SoftG. For a first timer, his learning curve will be painful to watch but, if we don't give it time, we'll be seeing this movie play out over and over again ad nauseum. There are no heroes riding in to rescue this team. No Parcells, McCarthys, Garrets or Paytons available even if Woody were so inclined to hire a successful HC. We have only two very hard choices. We can either ride this thing out and hope for the best OR, walk away until Woody is gone and the team has new ownership. Everything else is wishful thinking and a complete waste of energy and time..
We’ve had 2 home games and the stadium was packed. 50/50 with Steelers fans and probably 75/25 with Bills fans. We don’t have home games anymore, which is exactly what they deserve. The problem is the teams we face travel well. What we need is a home game schedule chock with teams like Jax, Car, Cle, and teams like that. Not because we can beat them, but because our stadium would then truly be indicative of the product Woody has been serving us, and only then might it make a difference. As for the team, here’s the reality. We suck this year. Next year we’ll most definitely be drafting a QB. We will still have a shitty roster, only we’ll then have a rookie QB leading that shitty roster. If we hit on QB and actually land an elite guy, the shitty roster won’t matter much. But you and I know we won’t, so let’s continue down the path of reality. We will draft a QB, force him in too soon, he will suck, we will suck, and then year 3 will be the hot seat for everyone. Ergstrand will be the first fall guy, new OC in year 3. QB has a shitty sophomore season, Glenn gets fired after his 3rd year, new regime comes in. Some will swear the QB can be turned around, but he’ll most likely suck in his 3rd year (new HC’s 1st year). We’ll sign some has been vet to bridge the gap until we draft another QB (now 5 years from today) and we’ll go through the process again. You know it, I know it, the world knows it.
Yes upside is Woody is now 78 years old and got very limited time left on this planet, downside he is grooming brick to take over a guy who has never done a single second of manual labor in his life and is 19 years old! imagine woody goes tomorrow and a 19 year old inherits this team? A guy who takes his understanding of the Nfl from a video game?
Aside from week 1 the coaching has been terrible awful awful awful. Yes it's still very early the Jets are a few plays away from being 2-1 two GOOD wins instead of 0-3 but they're 0-3 I get the sense coach Glenn is satisfied with that. Satisfied with the drop dead gorgeous week 1 loss and the battled back after a hideous 3 quarters to almost win yesterday. I get the sense this HC doesn't feel the impact of blowing those two games or of 0-3. Coach Glenn this regime need wins they have to start winning some games that's what it's about.
