...this team can still win 10-11 games, if the CS gets their head out of their asses. Assuming a sweep by both NE and Buff, losses to the Chargers and Broncos, that is still only 6 losses, five if we steal one of those games. OK, assuming the Jets win all their "winnable" games is usually a pipe dream, but still, we can be successful this season. Let's hope they open shit up and become competitive!
This team seems to play down and never can play up, respective to the talent of their opponent. I'm still content with a 9-10 win season. But 9 doesn't bring Favre back.
This schedule is easy enough to win 10 games at a minimum. They will probably win a game or two they shouldn't and lose a game or two they shouldn't lose. How do you assume two losses to the Bills, they have become the most overrated team on this site, chances are we will split with them like every other year.
This team is plenty capable of beating San Diego this weekend. There is no reason why we cannot win 11 games this season. Look at it this way, each game is a chance for Favre to get even more acclimated with the offense and improve. This will obviously work in our favor if the team just gets better and better. A couple things to work on in practice and perhaps a different choice of play calling in some areas during the games, but we are right there for a decent season again. I was not alive to see the NYJ win the Super Bowl in 1969 so I want to see some serious results in my lifetime!
Arizona is still a very winnable game and a game that should be won at home. Lets not go crazy about Arizona beating SF and Miami, if the Jets can't beat a team like Arizona at home then it is going to be a long season.
Call me positive but I think the Patriots also will go down and that we both split game with Buffalo and the Patriots, so we hopefully go for a 11 maybe 12 wins, or is this my insane side of my brain typing out loud??
Arizona is another team that will test the depth of our secondary. Coleman may get eaten alive this game. Warner is very good at getting the ball to an open guy quickly when there's a blitz.
I mean look at who play: Rams, Chiefs, Raiders, Bengals, Phins, Seahawks. They haven't looked like elite teams so far this season and most of them have looked downright awful at times.
The Jets haven't looked elite so far and also at times have looked downright awful. But everyone expects the team to get it together down the stretch. The mistake is in assuming none of the teams you mentioned will get it together down the stretch. Every NFL team is packed with talent, no matter how they perform at given times..
This is true, I don't recall the last time we beat the sh1t out of someone we were clearly better then...
Yep, we often will lose to teams who are clearly worse than us but on occasion we will smack up on a team clearly better than us (ie. Indy in the playoffs). But we always play like shit against someone we should easily win. It seems like the Jet way to start to beat up on an inferior team and then when we have the lead we go into our shell and try "not to loose" the rest of the game, allowing the other team to mount a comeback and we either just barely eek one out or just barely loose. We never go for the throat and try to outright win a game. :shit:
i've said all along this team will be 2-2 at the BYE week... but then look at the 3 games after the bye week... Cincy - home, @ Oakland, and KC - home. we could easily be 5-2 before going into Buffalo... assume an L, but then we have ST Louis at home, so we could be 6-3 before going into NE. assume a loss there, we'll be 6-4, we can beat Tennessee, San Fran, SEattle and Miami and end the season with 10 wins
how one loss changes the feelings of everyone on these boards. or is it that after a loss all of the somewhat optimistic fans just dont post making it seem like everyone believes the sky is falling? why in the hell would you assume a sweep by buffalo and new england? we played with new england. i dont put all the blame on the coaching staff for that loss. the reason we lost was field position for the most part. we started on our own 20 pretty much the whole game, the pats started inside our territiory a handful of times. now switch that or make the field position even and who do you think comes out on top? i think the jets do. yes field position is part of the game but honestly graham screwed us, and their punter did a great job the few times we pinned them back in their own end. now moving on we can play with every team in the league this year. yes i said it. everyone hear makes such a big deal that we dont have a great player in every position, but fail to see that no team has a great player at every position. every team has holes in it. did the giants have great players at every position last year? i dont think so, but they had enough players who where good enough and a few guys who did great things that helped them win. now this team should win at least 10 games. i have said it before ill say it again if they can make it to the bye at least 2-2 this team is making the playoffs. after the bye we cincinatti and i know we see the chiefs shortly following the bye. those two teams are bad. cincinatti has a horrible defense and our offense gets an extra week to prepare. look for the entire offense to open after the bye. i feel they are being conservative with favre right now as he gets used to playing with everyone in real game situations. after these first four games and the bye he should be comfortable enough for the training wheels to come off. so i expect a huge offensive outburst after they bye that will continue through the final 12 games. next the defense. this unit did a great job holding the pats (even without brady) to under 20 points when you take a look at the starting field position the pats had all game. yes they did get beat up towards the end by lamont but damn give them some credit. we all remember how improved the defense was after the bye last year. now imagine this unit that is already far superior to what we saw on the field last year improving by even a decent margin and this could very well be a top 5 unit at the end of the year. i know as jets fans its easier to just say well we will probably suck, and then if we dont just be happy about and say "damn im glad i was wrong." but damn i cant stand to see all this pessimism after just one loss. how is that pats fans can be so much more confident about their team without brady than we can be about a team that is pretty much at full strength and is only going to get better as all our free agents gel with the rest of the team? its because they have tasted success and now know how it feels to have some confidence. dont be afraid to think this team could be good just because they usually let you down. at least give it a few weeks before you totally right them off. please just stop crying over losing to the pats and move on and realize this could still be a very good team
