If Moss can be anything like he was, then he, Davis, Manningham, and Crabtree can be a scary receiving corps. Imagine if they get Peyton!
Imagine if they dont get Peyton, and they have Crabtree, Moss, Manningham, Davis and absolutely nobody to throw them the ball
But I gotta agree if they get a healthy Peyton, they gotta be the favorites in the NFC by a large margin
Manningham would end up being the #3 again and I think that suits him best. He has a lot of physical talent (remember he played most of last year with a knee injury and wasn't as fast/quick as he usually is) but is prone to mental lapses and concentration related mistakes. He will frustrate if you make him a starter and rely on him, but he'll be pretty good if you make him your #3 and simply take what he gives you.
And Alex Smith is in Miami today..does that mean Manning to SF is a done deal? If not, SF may have a lot of receivers and nobody to throw to them.
SF sounds like a perfect fit for Manning. Great defense, good running game and plenty of receiver options....Niners it is.
As a fan of one of the better teams in the NFC (a group shared with the 49ers), this move would make me sad. Having said all that, it makes the most sense.
It could... But it could also mean Alex Smith is covering his ass by visiting teams before his fate is determined by the 9ers. I doubt he'd leverage them into choosing between getting out of the Manning sweepstakes and losing Smith to another team.
