http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/61510 "Sources: Manny wants to be a Yankee Posted: Saturday August 09, 2008 07:47AM ET Having successfully orchestrated his divorce from Boston and his landing in with the Dodgers, Manny Ramirez would like to make life miserable for the Red Sox during the next few seasons. According to people who have spoken to the eccentric outfielder since he was dealt to L.A. on July 31, Ramirez wants to sign a free-agent deal with the Yankees this offseason and get 19 chances a year to punish Boston. "He wants to play for the Yankees so he can get at the Red Sox," a close friend of Ramirez's told The Post."
Arod and Ortiz > Manny and Ortiz i know we wont get him...but I just wanted to express my dislike for Manny
Manny's a Bronx native, and I think he grew up as a Yankees fan. Why the hell not. What a way to really stick it to the fuckn' Sox, too.
Ever since the trade I've been totally convinced that he'd end up in pinstripes next year and this only reinforces that feeling. I'm not sure if he's going to be worth whatever he ends up going. He won't be able to play left field in Yankee stadium, so do the Yanks really want to give a multi year, huge contract to a 37 year old right handed DH in that stadium?
If they find a way to get rid of Matsui (who has become a DH) and not resign Giambi (who is also a glorified DH) I'd be very willing to take Manny on the Yanks. Hes done nothing but rake since joining the Dodgers.
Damon LF Jeter SS A-Rod 3B Manny DH Matsui 1B Nady RF Cano 2B Posada C Cabrera/Jackson CF Or if he can't learn 1B, trade Matsui for a solid 1B... or prospects and have a Miranda/Sexson platoon.
because if you have ever looked at the man's face you would realize that hes about 43 years old. He is breaking down quickly
Manny as a Yankee wouldn't bother me. A couple years ago, but not now. The Red Sox will have taken the best of Manny and allowed him to serve the twilight of his career elsewhere. More importantly, they won't have overpaid him for past performance at a time when production is declining. That's pretty good personnel management. Boras is going to look to get Manny something like $70 million over four years, and that's just craziness. If the Yankees can get him for $45 million over three years, that may just be worth it. He'll earn about two-thirds of that before his nature takes over again.
