Watching NFL Live on ESPN. Schefter reporting Schaub has a "significant" foot injury that will sideline him at least several weeks. Wonder how much it will affect the Texans with Leinart as QB?
they're going to rely even more on the running game and defense. imho, they'll still win the division because of some of the easy games they have within it. their offensive line, 1-2 punch at running back and the way their defense is playing can help them weather the storm. That's even if SChaub is out for the year in the playoffs though, they'll be toast (which honestly i thought was going to happen anyway)
They actually have to worry about the Tennessee Titans now. It would be amazing if they lost out and went 7-9 and the Titans won the division at 8-8 or 9-7. One less Wildcard contender to worry about...
Leinart gets a bad rap, he was decent his first year, then they benched him for Warner after a couple bad games in year 2. His rookie year was like a better Mark Sanchez, slightly higher completion percentage way less turnovers, he was legitimately promising then Wisenhunt took over and started randomly rotating him with Warner like it was Steve Spurrier, he broke his collarbone, and never got another chance.
Leinart's in a perfect situation. if he can't get it done now, he just validated that he's been garbage all along.
They'll still probably win the division, but it'd be hilarious if they really struggle down the stretch, with a loss to the Colts in week 16 eliminating them from contention.
Interesting to see if they put him on IR. If they get the 2 seed there is a slim chance he could be back in 9 weeks.
Man, the AFC South has some great QBs. Indy: Painter and other guys who don't belong in the NFL Jacksonville: Gabbert Houston: Leinart Tennessee: Matt Hasselbeck (best QB in division)
he needs to have his surgery first. Lisfranc has a surgery does it not? putting in screws or whatnot correct? after the surgery they can determine what the healing time is likely to be. I would guess they IR him. Because if they make the playoffs (or better, get a bye) with lienart, they are probably better sticking with him as opposed to playing a rusty schaub off an injury thats prevented him walking, much less working out and throwing off the foot for 2 months.
Lisfranc can be treated with or without surgery. It depends on how displaced the fracture is. Even without surgery you can't put weight on it for 6 weeks.
