Miami wins again, this time against SD, a team that beat us. Very impressive win. It's shaping up to be that our win over Miami was indeed very solid. Same time, Arizona is beating the bills pretty nicely, again showing that is yet another good win under our belts. I am telling you fellas, the jets are for real. Unfortunately, NE will sitll be tough, and Miami is looking like a very tough win the next go. BIlls all depends on if trent edwards is good to go, as I heard he got hurt.
Our QB obviously has the edge, but miami's running game is clearly better then ours. I think the defense is a wash, as both are average. Still, most will agree that Jets have a better chance because favre has been there and done that. Still, this division looks pretty tough all around. Just hope the jets can claw their way to the top. It wont be easy.
Their D is better then ours in almost every statistical category, including how they have played against the same opponents. So, if it's not a wash, then it's Miami that gets the edge. I agree, the jets have a lot of talent on their defense, but talent doesn't necessarily mean playing well. Take Will Blackmon for the packers: Lots of talent at the CB position, but he just can't put it all together. Talent alone doesn't make you good.
Miami's D has alot of talent...I just like that ours is a little bit older and more experienced. The difference is that Miami is hot right now...well that and the Jets would have to pitch 19 shutouts in a row to convince the world (and their fans) that the D is pretty good.
I don't think these guys will get your Will Blackmon reference but I kinda agree with you. But Will Black mainly just has the athletic ability, not so much the skill or namely the technique yet. This Jets defense has the athleticism AND skill to be good. They just don't show it all the time.
No, not really. I just don't think your overall defensive personell is made for a 3-4 defense. What about, you know, instead of trying to find guys and dumping others for a 3-4, you change to a 4-3? I mean, 4-3 is basic, solid, and proven to be effective. I know that wont be this year, but what about next? Very few teams can run the 3-4 properly, and I think it has overall failed with the jets.
All teams have talent. Most talent has skill. It has to be consistent, or it doesn't work. That is the issue for the jets, and really in comparing to miami. Miami's defense is more consistent then the jets, even if the jets D on a good day is technically better.
i think we were kinda lucky to play Miami early on i mean they didnt try none of that wildcat shit on us
The teams that do run the 3-4 properly are pretty much the best defenses in the league though. That's gotta count for something.
Miami would be 0-4 if not for Chad Pennington. Their Defense wouldn't have made a difference. Chad Pennington knows how to win. Our defense has looked shaky at times but I thought they still made a lot of big plays. Mangini knows how to improve the D after the bye week, so in a few weeks we won't be having this discussion about which D is better.
These college plays and wildcat offense isnt going to last much longer. I’d say they’ll get to 6 – 10 or 7 – 9 this year. Heres the thing that’s concerning – we were the dolphags bitches for a long time; the first year Parcells took over we dropped two competative games to them…it was pretty much the difference in our season that year if I remember. Since then – I don’t remember the Phins beating us two times…we have owned them. I’m guessing we’ll beat them next game and then we’re in for it for a long, long time.
Gimmie a break ? it has more to do with the running attack they have. Chad almost blew that game today because of his typical lack of ability to sustain drives late. Fortumatly for him ? he was playing a Norv Turner coached team and a ted cottrell defense.
I think the 2 biggest differences are that we have a better QB, and they have a better running game. I think R Brown is much better than t Jones and Ricky is better than Leon. Although, Leon is a better change of pace guy than either of the Dolphin backs are. Defenses are both up-and-down. I am glad that we don't play them until the last week though. Hopefully somebody will figure out a way to defense their 'Wild cat' formation and we can learn from it. I really thought the Chargers would have an answer for it, but then I realized who their defensive coordinator was...
So the Years that The Pats and Steelers had some monster defenses we should just forget about? Every Parcells team ran a bad D? ... Or mabye your just a moron grasping at straws? I know what I'd say on that topic.
