Kevin O'Connell, San Diego State Height: 6-5. Weight: 225. Projected 40 Time: 4.59. Combine 40 Time: 4.61. Hand Size: 8 7/8. Projected Round: 4-5. A quarterback with great size and mobility, Kevin O'Connell led his team in rushing yards (408) and rushing touchdowns (11). He also threw for 3,063 yards and 15 scores. His 40 time really looks enticing. Certainly has the measurables. Second fastest Forty for QB's at Combine.
The only late round QB draft pick I'd be interested in is either Josh Johnson from San Diego or Erik Ainge from Tennesse. If O'Connell isnt drafted I wouldnt mind bringing him in for a tryout and possibly Bill Callahans old QB Sam Keller
Dware, bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!. And I said, bwahahahahahahahahahaha!. Why not put on some big gloves? They make you throw the ball better in fair weather and foul.
That's funny because I was hoping it was about him too...After reading the sleeper thread about him earlier in the year, I am very interested to know more about this guy. Funny that he was considered in the Flacco range just that short time ago.
Although I haven't seen everyone play, I wouldn't mind taking a flyer at John David Booty from USC if he is available in the 5th or 6th round. I'm OK giving Pennington and Clemens another year and am curious to see how they do with a revamped OL and, hopefully, some help at WR (and maybe RB). I still think the Jets have too many needs to use a high draft pick for a QB, and am prepared to give Clemens a chance to solidify his role as starting QB. Let's not forget: (a) last year, his second, was his first year playing; (b) he was a 2nd round draft pick that probably wouldn't have been picked in the 1st round had he not gotten injured his senior year; and (c) last year we had a weak OL, mediocre running game and no WRs that could stretch the field. I want to see what Clemens can do with a better supporting cast and another year under his belt before we spend another high draft choice on a QB. Booty does not seem to be in most people's top 5 QBs, and yet he had a very successful college record, played with and against some real talent, and had poise running a pro-style offense. He strikes me as the type of QB that could ride the bench for a couple of years, learn the pro game, and be very servicable. Mike
