Not saying we should do it, but should the jets consider fired 49ers coach Mike Nolan for defensive coordinator in 2009? I think he was the jets D coord under Groh in 2000. Might be an upgrade over Sutton.

He can win SB with another team 15 years later. I want a coach that will win either now or in a very short future (i.e. within next 2-3 years)
it usually takes 5, or the previous regime drafted young guys that it their stride and then when the new guy came in they were in their prime and were ready to win, but that coach has to be damn good and without a ring. No HC has ever won a SB with 2 different teams, thats why Cowher shouldn't come here... having a franchise QB helps too, or a legendary awesome defense for one year. I'll take the franchise QB.
Nolan did a great job for us in 2000 but DC isn;t our problem. Has anyone noticed our D has been good this year? It's ben the O and STs that have cost us multiple games.
The STs made 2 mistakes- the leon fumble and fake punt which is all on coaching at that point. You can't blame the return units when the opposing K is booting them out of the EZ. Our O is the main culprit, how we can only score 13 in 5 qtrs is beyond me.

Should be interesting to see how Mike Martz does under the new HC. Perhaps hes a possibility for OC job next year
