havent really seen anyone talk about this but i remember watching hardknocks and westy said he was gonna coach that year then one more and retire. also pulled this off his wikipedia page On August 8, 2010, Westhoff received a one year contract extension.[1] Westhoff will remain with the team through 2011 and barring any setbacks will retire following the 2011 season.[1]

is he really retiring the offseason? are we promoting that guy they made fun of on hardknocks for following him around?

I thought the same thing and made another thread thanking Mike for his service.

Apparently others on this site read elsewhere where he said he'd be back. I still never heard or read anything from Mike himself.

Can't believe he wants to leave on the 2011 record. The ST really had a bad year, esp. with fumbles.

When you think about it, considering the O, D, and ST all had sub-par years, it's amazing we were even 8-8.

He wants to coach for one more season... I'm sure they'll offer him that.

I doubt he wants to go out like this. He had a horrible year.

I would love it if Westhoff were given a chance to be our offensive coordinator. I'm actually surprised this hasn't come up in conversation before. You can't tell me that he doesn't have the knowledge to do the job after 4 decades as an NFL coach, and I have no doubt whatsoever that he would both hold people accountable and come up with some shit every game that nobody has ever seen from an NFL offense.

No way he leaves. He would stay another year just to curse out people like McKnight and Kerley. He will be hard to replace once he does retire.

Westy is a proud man. He won't allow THIS to be the way he exits the game : Under a cloud of controversy and discord.

He'll most likely give it another year to at least finish on a HIGH-NOTE for a change, then call it a career.
