Reporter - Bob McGinn http://www.jsonline.com/sports/pack...est-jets-secondary-b99347942z1-274570411.html On the other hand, here's Cimini's preview of the Packers: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/42863/getting-to-know-the-packers
Informative is probably a better word to use, but I think it does a good job for another team's beat reporter.
Interesting tid-bit. This is one of the cool subplots to the game. Hawk and Jets centerNick Mangold go as far back as two football players can go. They were boyhood friends in Centerville, Ohio, and played on the same sixth-grade team, the Centerville Elks. They grew up less than five miles apart, lived together for four years at Ohio State, became first-round draft picks in 2006 and served as groomsmen in each other's weddings. Hawk is the Packers' "Mike" linebacker, so there will be plenty of collisions with Mangold. So far, their NFL series is 1-1.
I'd like to see a NYC media source offer Bob McGinn a job. He could give the local guys some tips on what they should be doing to earn their salaries.
Thanks for this info. I'll be sure to tell my friends who are big NFL fans too. That's awesome stuff.
I have to say imt extremely impressed by how informative that was. Better than our beat writers by 100 miles.
Their demographic is the city of Arthur Fonzarelli and Laverne DeFasio. Ours is the demographic of Vinnie Barbarino and George Jefferson.
Nice article, thanks for posting this. Milwaukee is a small media market. Nobody hates the Packers. That makes writing about them much easier. The NY/NJ metro area market is huge. At least half the fans in the market don't like the Jets. A significant percentage of them hate the Jets. There is a lot of competition in the media market here. The hate the Jets get is almost all related to one of the preceding facts. It just is what it is.
i see nothing inherently wrong with Cimini's article...When he pulls his crap he deserves it, but he's actually been much better this year. In fact so has Manish. That is because they have nothing to spin, thanks to Mr. Idzik.
I'm guessing that you don't like the Cimini article, but he is actually not just reaching for the typical Jets beat writer low hanging fruit, he put effort into it. Obviously he's going to put his own slant in there, but it was still an interesting read.
When a beat writer talks about shifting players here and there, runs in a certain direction working vs not working, that is great stuff. Educational and interesting.
