He says db need to get a jam on receivers. Cro constantly turns and runs. Both he and Milliner are big corners and should be much more physical. From what I've seen so far this year I would have a tough time giving Cro 10 million a year.

Yep I hate seeing these tall corners of ours giving a 10 yard cushion. Kyle Wilson is a lot smaller and he goes up and presses a lot of the time. What I hate seeing most is in short yardage situations, our DBs backed up way behind the first down line to then see a quick little curl for the first.

That's exactly what I was arguing in another thread. Quick passes from 3, 5 step drops or shotgun + free releases = 49-9.

Since Cro came to NY Rex has said he has been trying to get him to use his hands and be more physical.

His style this year is get torched, reach out and grab shoulder, hope to get away with it, act like a great corner when a receiver drops a ball.

Also, we do we always play off the slot receiver. We make it too easy.

Hmm you kind of have to. You put a guy in the slot so that he can get a free release. It's very hard for a CB to get their hands on a slot WR especially since usually they are off the LOS and free to go any direction with no sideline to help.

Honestly, if we get a chance to get Revis next year..we should do it. 5 years/10-12 mil a year and get it done. Only obstacle is basically Woody Johnson (might not want to deal with those agents ever again).

I agree 100%. But only for around that price.

It's amazing how fast Cro dropped from being a dominant near-Revis quality CB, to one who is ranked in the bottom ~5 statistically. 2 years ago the Jets had the best CB tandem in the NFL, now they have arguably the worst in the league. (Still think it was the right call to let Revis go, since he wanted too much money. I hope he's happy with Shiano, playing Cover 2.)

I think that, unfortunately, Cro's best playing days are behind him and he can't be expected to play at that Pro Bowl level anymore. After this season, he will have to be released to create cap space. That money can be used to get 2 decent CBs; and then the secondary should be solid. Things seem to be much improved at safety and linebacker, so if the Jets can just get 2 mediocre CBs, the defense should be #1 or very close to it in 2014, if Rex is the head coach.

The thing with Cro is once he really loses his physical ability, he'll really get burned often. He's always had terrible technique (which is why Revis will still be a good corner even after his "prime" years, his technique is amazing).

The problem is that he already rejected an offer at around that level. His agent treated it as an outrage because it wasn't fully guaranteed. One of Revis's sticking points is that he insists on a "system breaking" contract. He has to be paid a 40 - 50% premium above the normal compensation a future Hall of Fame cornerback, it's not enough if you just pay him like $2m a year more than the second-highest paid CB is earning. It has to be almost double the second-highest earning CB.

I'm just hoping that the season he's having opens his eyes (unlikely I know lol). It honestly couldn't have happened to a better player lol.

And that's why his loss doesn't bother me as much. Obviously we all miss his production, but he couldn't care less about winning. He's probably the happiest man in the world in Tampa right now. Getting paid $16 million, while his team is winless, but he doesn't give a damn. Also, Tampa did name an island after him, so he's gotta be happy.

Funny when Cromartie or Holmes say stuff like this to the media they get crucified by the fans and called classless, yet when it's Wilkerson ya'll just say he's right. What's that thing about throwing stones if you live in a glass house? Bahahahaha.

MoWilk is making a run at DPoY.

Elite players can run their mouth more, b/c their on the field play gives them a ton more credibility.
    ----------------

The worst kinda player is one that talks a lot but doesn't back it up. Cro and Holmes both are talented, and I expect both to contribute as we make a playoff push, but every Jets fan thinks they are trash b/c of their mouths.
