here, this was posted on nfldractcountdown.com forums They just had a radio interview on ESPN 790 with Casserly last night. And yes, he could be lying, but I have found Casserly to never lie about draft intentions, just not tell the full story. For example, last year he said that there was somebody they wanted who they thought they could trade down and still get. He just wouldn't say who or say that they would definitely trade down. This turned out to be Travis Johnson who they did trade down from #13 to #16 to get. Here are the main thoughts he shared and/or you could gather between the lines from what he said about what Texans will do with #1 pick 1. There's currently no standing draft trade offer. Whatever offer that there was in February is not there now. 2. It's not unusual for there to not be any firm trade offers for high #1's until a few days before the draft. 3. They do want to trade down if it's a fair deal. Think trade value chart. 4. He did share why Texans feel that Bush will be a great fit on their Offense, if they stay at #1 and choose him. He mentioned returning punts as part of how they would use him. Texans already have a Pro Bowl kickoff returner so not surprising that he just mentioned punt returns for Bush. 5. His gut from discussions to this point is that if there is a trade down, that it will be with the Jets. (His words) Because it makes the most sense with them. 6. Jets and Texans have discussed this on more than one occasion and Jets are currently evaluating Bush and the Big 3 QB's. (This jives with the rumors that Jets like Cutler) 7. Jets are going to make a decision after their evaluations if they need to trade up to get who they decide that they want. Conclusion: No definite Jets/Texans trade. But if there is a trade for the #1 pick, bet in Vegas that it will be with the Jets.
Interesting. Thanks for the update. The Texans need draft picks. They have 4 in the first day currently. Jets could drop down a bit and acquire more picks to trade to Houston and not hurt us
That doesn't even make sense. Trade down picks to trade up with Houston? I mean it makes sense, it just isn't ever going to happen.
if we could get 3 firsts (trade to 6 with SF and get their 15 they got from Den) then give Houston the 6, 15 and 29
Based on the Trade Value chart on ESPN we would have to give up our #4, #29, #35, and possibly our 3rd round pick we got in compensation. If you put names to those picks-you have B'brick, Carpenter, Addai, and Daryb Colledge. That is a lot-its trading a franchise LT, a starting LB, a potential future starting RB, and more depth on the OL all for a RB
great post. u said it all right there. all this "Texans don't want Bush" bullcrap is really getting annoying.
I heard last night that the Texans have already made an offer to Bush... No one is stupid enough to pass him up.
They also made an offer to Mario Williams, so it's still up n the air. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/news/story?id=2417167
