Given all the build up and hype surrounding this season for the jets, (AFC Championship Game, FA signings, Hard Knocks, NYC Superbowl ect) do you guys think this is the most anticipated season ever for a specific franchise?? I do, but if you do not agree please state the year and team that has this beat.

A few other highly anticipated seasons:

1992 Chicago Bulls- beat magic and lake show in finals for MJ's first ring

2008 New England Patriots- broke every offense record then lost to the gmen

1997 New York Yankees- ended i think 18 or 19 year long world series championship draught

I'll even throw in the 1984 usa olympic hockey team for shits and gigs, and if i need to explain why then you might as well burn old glory

AND the 1999 jets for us

No, the Jets have some national exposure but realistically the only ones who are really following the Jets development and have anticipation like this are... the Jets fans. I can definitely say this is the most hyped I've ever been since becoming a Jet fan back in 1986. But out here in California I can say most people are like, Jets who? And are wrapped up in the off-season developments of their favorite team.

Since the J-E-T-S haven't won a Super Bowl in so long, It's huge for Jet fans.
Other fans, see it as another over hyped team.

The last time we Jets fans were this jacked up for the season was 1999.

Yeah, 1999 beats this one by a mile. 1-15 to 9-7 to 12-4 = Trip to Super Bowl in 1999. I was sure the Jets had all the ingredients to make the trip and John Elway was retired to keep the Broncos from three-peating.

This year I see a team that could go anywhere from 7-9 or so to the Super Bowl.

    I agree with these sentiments.

1999 was gonna be our year. Until it wasn't.

I think there are 3 things that sets this upcoming season apart from the 1999 season

    1. Both teams made the afc championship games yes so i feel regular season record should be discarded because of a rookie qb who didnt start to mature until the playoffs, that said Mark Sanchez is my first reason. The kid will have all eyes on him as he tries to avoid the sophmore slump and make jets history

    2. New stadium- finally we move out of giants stadium into one that is at least half ours, new stadium = new excitement

    3. off season moves- now if i'm wrong please correct me but i dont recall any major offseason moves made by the jets in 1999, this year is different thus creating more anticipation

pair these reasons with hard knock and our big dick swag coach and even though i was only 14 in 1999, i think 2010 is more anticipated

ps. i do agree with you that the jets could be anywhere from 7-9 to super bowl champs, i mean they are the jets

As others have mentioned, we were SB contenders heading into the 1999 season but it went up in flames with Vinny's achilles. I was really young in 99 (10 yrs old) and while I remember watching games that year I couldn't really process the dissapointment of it.

This season will be just like that: SB or bust, but we've got a better team than in 99 IMO.

no way is it nationally anticipated. we'll have a lot of people pick us to win the division and some to win the SB, but we're not a national juggernaut like those 18-1 patriots.

as a young jet fan(19) it's easily the most excited i've ever been for a season.

Yeah - I had a good feeling about our chances in '99, I feel much better about this year. Everything is falling into place.

If we stay healthy this will be the best season in 40 years, we are legitimate contenders.

The biggest offseason moves involved Parcells cutting anyone who coughed up the ball. Van Dyke, Byars, and Meggett gone.

I think we also lost Kyle Brady and Lorenzo Neal that year.

Also, I am not sure if he replaced O'Dwyer with Jenkins before or after the 1998 season.

See, I don't get this logic. How can anyone view us as a 7-9 team?
