I take it a bit further and replace whatever he says with: "I couldn't care less about the team... I wanna kiss you right now!"
Hello!!!!! Are you ignoring my posts, by chance??!! I posted this in the Sanchez thread at 5:34 this morning.:smile:
Yeah, he is kind of like that uncle that embarrasses you in public but you're really glad to see him anyway. Man I wish I could have seen him play in his heyday, he was exciting to watch as a broken down old warhorse.
I always liked that whenever you hear Namath being interviewed about the Jets, he always says "we", like "we'll do well this year" because his heart is still with the team all these years later. It's refreshing compared to some of the modern guys who switch teams every two years and only care about the name on the back of the uniform.
This a a fairly modern development. John Elway - Broncos Dan Marino, Bob Griese - Doiphins Troy Aikman - Cowboys Jim Kelly - Bills Those guys played in just the last generation and they're completely identified with their teams. For QB's and most All-Pro caliber players that was the rule and not the exception until very recently.
