This is a long week for us and if your like me you'r going to make the best of it. I have the brilliant "America's Game" Superbowl III good to go anytime on my Sky box- you guys have "Tivo", and I never get tired of watching it. I noticed a real similarity about that wonderful season and this season regarding our QB's. It's nothing to do with their respective skills, comparisons can wait until Mark has a few NFL seasons under his belt. What intrigued me is how even with Joe's awsome arm and savy he had to learn to reign in his desire to win it all on his own and how a more conservative approach and letting the strength of the team, the defence, play it's part was more productive- understatement! It was great to see Sanchez play on Saturday with the maturity of a veteran knowing he could throw the laser when the time was right. Our season started looking bright when Rex decided that he wanted simplify the game for our star. Probably just another insignificant observation by a lifelong Jet fan hoping for the stars to align but, hey it's Tuesday, Sunday is a long way off. Any thoughts.
dam bro press the enter key once or twice....i'm sure your post is excellent but i can't get through it...
I have all kinds of hopes and dreams for our Jets as this week drags on. Do you wear a kilt? Do you have a Jets kilt?
This season has many similarities and connections to the glory days of old....... stay tuned and BELIEVE :jets:
Unless U R old enough to have been around pre SB3 U have not the foggiest idea what was occurring at that time.
Do you just sniff out threads like this so you can remind everyone that you saw the SB? Why don't you try explaining where he's wrong rather than just shaking your cane like an angry old coot?
Great points, when you watch Superbowl III you get that the Jets could have been more aggressive if they needed it. I seem to remember Joe on the sideline saying something like "if it were a game thing" meaning he could chuck it up if need be. The recipe for success is much the same as todays Jets as you pointed out. My advice on the long week ahead, enjoy every minute that feels like an hour. I am trying to soak in every single bit of joy I can because its so rare. If its over this week I want to know I wrung out everything I could during the week to enjoy my teams run. One last thing, Namath was a four year vet for the 68-69season and so we hope that Sanchez can continue to play like a vet.
Funnnnnny Stuffffffffff Wow now that was a funny reply, I can see that cane swinging now. The Jets would have won that game if it weren't for them medlsom kids! Oh and to cane swinger, there are a plethora (word o the week) of books by the people involved at the time that documents exactly what was going of way back then. Now as a 4 year old at game time my best memories of the game were the nap and snack provided by some really tall people I look alot like today.
...and at your age you probly do not have the foggiest idea of what is occuring right now, Have very little memory of what happened yesterday, and can't seem to remember whom to yell at to come change your adult diaper.
My Dad's balls were close enough to the TV at the time to absorb alot of audio information. Between that, all the stories he has told, and watching too much TV over the years, I'm almost as enlightened as yourself. :breakdance: :jets:
Agreed. But, I think Gerry Philbin put it in his own words, in NFL America's Game: New York Jets Super Bowl III, pretty well that Namath was losing games cause he was throwing so much into trouble when in fact he had the number one defense and didn't have too. Having the number one defense in the AFC at the time was probably the only similarity.
How can you be cranky when the Jets are still playing? BTW, you are 0-7 in bringing a Super Bowl to TGG.com. You better hope the Jets win it all this year or you will be 0-8. I may start posting about how you need to start better threads on TGG.com in order for the Jets to win a Super Bowl. You are quickly passing "Joe Walton" in your thread posting abilities and sliding downwards towards "Rich Kotite."
That and having a QB trying to make plays he didn't need to make, but turning it around in time to make the postseason...
