these positions are the two most important-----without an offense any defense will get tired out by the 4th q looking at the jet rough schedule and with coles gone and no names as our qb i can see sadly maybe at the most a 4 win season because of the need to sell psls i'm expecting a blockbuster trade for a qb to give us a chance at respectability--and get the fans excited about 2010 else the stadium will be half filled come late nov and dec
Cloes from lst year was not the Coles of a few years ago. He's lost a step and is injury prone. Losing him is not a big deal. Not nearly as big as you try to make it seem. As for the QB, you seem to be forgettign that our shitty 4-12 team went 3-4 with Clemens at the helm. I'm ready to give him or Ratliff a chance unless we have a top prospect at 17 waiting for us.
It's the fourth day of free agency. This team is far from complete. We will get another WR either through the draft, trade, or FA and we have no idea what direction we are going as far as QB. So many things can happen between now and the start of the season that nobody should be worrying yet. This is the earliest panic thread I've ever seen.
Please have someone remove all sharp objects from your reach. You sound about ready to snap. I really think we are going to be surprised by either Rat/Clem. Ball control, baby. Ball control.
People keep saying QB will bring us down from our 9-7 season, but the Jets were 9-7 with a QB who threw 22 INTERCEPTIONS. There is a very good chance our new QB will throw less. Almost 100%.
I wouldn't say 4-5 wins.... 7-8 wins is more like it... I don't get why the QB position is being treated without importance all of the sudden when it was the most important thing in the world for such a long time. Do not be naive.
Did you just imply that wide receiver is the second most important position on a football team? I might, MIGHT suggest that wide receiver is the least important position on a team. You really can't call any position "unimportant," but if I had to build a team with 21 pro bowlers and one absolute dud, the dud would be at second wide receiver.
I don't know about you guys, but the way this defense is looking I'm expecting to be in the WC hunt. Obviously the way our offense plays is important but a good defense is always better than a good offense. unless you play the 2007 Patriots in which case you need to get lucky to win.
Since we're going for the low scoring offensive output this season, I'm not sure they're really depending on the offense to do much more than score 14-17ppg. This will be the Ravens North and as such, it will be our defense that will determine our season.
AMEN to that .... Seriously, maybe I'm drinking that damn Green Kool-Aid that goes around .... BUT .... I feel VERY Good about this team this year .... We have 2 untapped potential quarterbacks on the roster and one in the wings .... No one thought that Flacco would do what he did, but he was given a chance and lo and behold he did pretty good, had anyone heard of Matt Cassel before Tommy Boy went down ??? Hmmm I sure hadn't, but he did Ok too .... We have a few WR's out there too, that with the chance might just blossom into something special .... they may also flop, guess we have to see when they are given the chance ( Roy Williams sure didn't excite anyone after going to Dallas did he ??? ) IMHO .... I am thinking 10/11 wins this season
Because a) There isn't a QB in FA that's worth taking a chance on when Clemmens and Ratcliff BOTH know our system already. And are pretty good players. b) Our strong O-line and running game is completely in tact from last season, meaning we need someone who will manage the ball well, and has the luxury of a tight line to grow behind. c) None of the top Draft QBs are worth that starting money when we have better holes to upgrade. If anything we should be looking for a second TE, who is an upgrade from Baker. That will help our passing game. And then (as we've needed since Keyshawn left) is a BIG WR. This team is going to be a "win the game at the line of scrimmage" team. Our biggest need is a back up for Jenkins on the D line.
