    What do you guys think?
Any college athlete that has been found guilty of breaking any laws may not be drafted in the first round, and they enter the league on strike one.
My goal is to help these kids make better decisions. And send a message to athletes at an early age. .. Think twice before you act. Choose your friends wisely etc. The possible loss of millions of dollars may be a strong deterrent.

So if they get a speeding ticket it ruins their early NFL career?

Should not be pass ed . Not on moral grounds at least. That is like telling everyone who at 17 who screws up you won't get your dream job.
legally I don't think they can enforce it either it is discrimination.

If true Goodell should be fired let's teams cheat and deflate balls for a competitive advantage and tried to punish players not even in the NFL yet.

Dress code coming next from this idiot commish...Seriously doesn't the NFL already make a boat load of cash from these young players when the enter the league? This shit is just another cog in the devalue J.Winston wheel.

This is just an idea right? Not an actual rule that is on the table that might be passed? Because it's not a good one.

Right!! Let's punish 19-yo for a few extra beers, but for the right people NFL will destroy evidence and delay investigations.
    Outstanding moral compass.

It sure sounds like it is just an idea from the OP (and a badly conceived one) because if it was real it would be major news and reported from every outlet

There is no way this would happen. A star player test positive for marihuana and can't get drafted till 2-1? Take a minute and think about what that does to the draft value of picks 16-30 in terms of trading up and down.

I'm in favor of going in the opposite direction. I hate the NFL suddenly becoming the 'moral Nazis'.

    DUI? BANNED!
    Bar brawl? BANNED!
    Smoke weed? BANNED!
    Disorderly conduct? BANNED!

    F that shit.

Spousal abuse? Dog fighting? Raping drunk chicks? These crimes all come with sever civil penalties.

The NFL should never have gone down the slippery slope of trying to 'look like they care'. The only response from Roger GODel should have been "We are aware of the situation and we are letting the local authorities handle it".

But now that the NFL has decided to be judge and jury, mom and dad, whatever, every time a player gets dinged with anything ESPN sends 50 reporters to Roger demanding comment.

I don't agree with OP's mandate. Aside from being patriarchal and heavy handed, it will just inflate the value of second round picks. Aren't troubled kids already downgraded due to character concerns?

what exactly does the guys conduct outside of football have to do with his job in football?

i have no interest in the continuing of the process to make everyones life more difficult. it used to be that you did something wrong and you were punished for it by the courts and once you paid that price you continued on with your life as best you could.

nowadays the court doesnt deal with anything and puts nobody in jail but they make it impossible to have a job. i cant stand it in football nor in regular old life.

i cannot stand the whole holier than thou attitude the nfl has. i cant stand that roger goodell dictates how they live their lives and i cant stand that he is catering to a bunch of uptight folks who want everyone to be punished for every single thing they do.

if they break rules on the field you punish them. if they break rules off the field the courts should be dealing with them. if they can no longer take care of their job on the field THEN the teams will need to deal with it.

everyone needs to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and dictating how folks live their lives through these passive aggressive i dont like how you live so i am going to make your life as difficult as i can. and i am going to PUNISH you when you dont do things the way I DO THEM.

Since the NFL is going to pounce on every little off the field incident how about at least starting the kids off with a clean slate?

If they can grow up and leave the past behind them why should the NFL care what happened in college?

How about the NFL stops pretending like the league is filled with boy scouts and let's the law of the land take care of problems if they exist? We don't watch football for spirituality.

yup and didn't the nfl try and ban/reprimand this kind of 'celebration' until public outcry forced them to allow it?

The NFL's moral crusade makes me long for the days of the XFL with player names like "GO FUCK YOURSELF" on the back of their jerseys lol

They aren't acting like they are boy scouts, they are trying to keep big money sponsors from dropping teams every time a Ray Rice smashes his girlfriend's face in an elevator. I don't like the way Goodell goes about doling out punishment but let's be honest he doesn't do anything unless the owners want it and the owners don't do anything unless it protects their investment. 10 years ago they didn't do anything about domestic abuse but the more social media makes consumers aware of it the more sponsors get nervous about being associated with teams who employ wife beaters and drunk drivers and such and nervous sponsors breed nervous owners.

The NFL tries to preach like they want boy scouts but what they really want is well behaved money machines wearing football pads
