SportsNet New York (SNY), which will launch March 16, 2006, is New York?s new regional sports network founded by Sterling Entertainment Enterprises, Time Warner and Comcast. SNY is a 24/7 regional sports and entertainment television network that will feature up to 125 regular season New York Mets telecasts ? as well as provide unparalleled live sports and local news coverage to the Tri-State area through three nightly ?SportsNite? shows. SNY will be available to viewers in New York, Connecticut, most of New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania. In addition to Mets games, SNY is also the official year-round television home of the New York Jets, providing viewers the most exclusive coverage and access to the Jets organization and its players. LOOKS COOL TO ME.
Love to be there and get Curtis Martins autograph and just see how this thing is going to run. From what I read this seems like a good thing for us JETS fans.
Does anyone know what the deal is with SNY and DirecTV? SNY website says it will be carried but my telephone call and e-mail to DirecTV was not very reassuring, i.e. "we're in negotiations and hope to resolve the issue in the near future, perhaps before the start of the Mets season."
It looks like they won't have SNY until the beginning of the season. Cablevision was smart enough to sign SNY until the beginning of the season on a cheap deal so they can carry that, and then continued the negotiations for the rest, which is surprising because the Dolans don't do much that is intelligent.
Seems like a really odd day to launch a sports network, on one of the most exciting sports days(for a sport not featured on the network) of the year.
Well I agree with you 3rdAnd15Draw BTW love the name, With all the college basketball tornies going on alot of people might not watch but I was also thinking if they did it tomorrow it would be St. Patricks day and im sure no one would watch or attend. Just my thought.
I'm responsible for 3rdAnd15Draw having that name. It's funny how I can come up with such a great name for someone else yet have such a ridiculously generic name like Pennington10 myself. I've been trying to change it for years but theganggreen doesn't allow new members.
Excellent point..hadn't thought of that. Pretty sure at 5pm I'll be watching a hoop game from some region. Smart move would have been to launch in February (sports deadspot) if it was at all feasible.
