I heard the players want the first round picks to boycott Radio City and come to a player sponsered event for the draft, have a player or two from each team greeting the draft pick. I say we fans boycott attending the draft. Face it, the draft on TV would be for shit without the gallery. I am sure the people who go, could handle watching on TV and boy would that send a message to these greedy SOB's. How cool would that be, no fans, no draft picks. The NFl and ESPN would be pissed.
No. ESPN wouldn't care, and the NFL shouldn't. People don't tune in to watch people at the draft, nor do they tune in to watch the players in attendance. People tune in to watch the picks made and the analysis. The only people who will be hurt by a player/fan boycott are the young players who get the experience of a lifetime walking up on that stage with their families. The NFLPA...errr former NFLPA...is acting incredibly selfishly by asking the rookies to miss out on that. It does NO damage to the NFL.
This. Only Jets fans tune in to see how their teams' fans respond. People watch to see who their team picks, when their favorite college players get drafted, for the analysis, and for their offseason football fix.
What a horrible time for a kid who is about to go in the top ten. All these kids have done for the past ten years or more is for that moment and now they might not get the chance to walk across that stage? It's a real shame.
i would say the jets, giants and eagles fans watch to see fan reaction, after all the draft is in new york and there arent too many kansas city fans in the area. i really dont see it being that big of a deal and shows solidarity as a group they are going into. i wouldnt be heartbroken to not go to the draft, there are a few hundred kids drafted and what 20 of them go to the draft each year, yeah i dont see it being a big deal at all. i actually think its a great idea to have them do something themselves. i am sure espn will have cameras there to see all the action..
I don't really see this idea affecting anyone. Empty stands at games? That's another story. Lower ratings? Ask nascar about that one.
no fans at the draft wouldnt send a monetary message or make anyone lose their house but you can bet it would send a very very clear message. there are in fact very few ways for nfl fans to send a message, this would be one of them. the problem is that there are always fanatics out there who will still go because their fanatacism is so great that they cant help themselves. they will be happy they can get really close to... well it wont be the players, it probably wont be the owners. but they will get real close to the guy going up to make a pick on behalf of the buffalo bills.
