We're just fortunate his hitting isn't as bad as his fielding.

That's baseball for you: Beltran 27 hopper to the shortstop hole - single; Delgado smokes ball to center - out; Wright broken bat flare to center - single; Green hard grounder to shortstop hole - single and RBI.

    2-0 Mets.

Yep, Mets sure need a new second baseman next year.

Nice (somewhat lucky) play by Maine.

fantastic job by maine. the way he has been working the last couple innings i guess you have to let him at least start the 6th(but have someone ready)

VERY strong inning for Maine. He has done everything anyone could have asked for.

Pinch hitter leading off the bottom of the 5th?

tough call. i think you let him hit as he hasn't been in any real trouble the last two innings on the mound. also, it save a pinch hitter for later.

Maine stays in - can't argue with that decision.

One of my main problems with Joe Buck is he is so monotonous. If you're only half listening to what he is saying, you can't tell if a batter just struck out or hit a homerun, or if he making a statement or asking a question. I know it's hard to show excitment and enthusiasm without appearing bias, but damn, his monotony (is this a word?) is annoying.

That's it for Maine. Absolutely magnificent performance, and he gets a very well-deserved standing O.
