Not really related, but Josh Outman has probably the best name for a pitcher of all time.

GAME 1 TONIGHT POSTPONED. Now more people can watch the Rangers game tonight at MSG vs. Simeon Varlamov, Nicklas Backstrom, Brooks Laich and the Capitals.

Wow, that's pretty freaking cool. I don't know if I'd want my kid throwing sliders and curveballs all day though. He's too young to be doing that to his arm.

he's a senior, if he signs he'd probably be in high A or AA by the end of the year, where he'd be expected to throw plenty of offspeed stuff. I understand limiting breaking balls for kids under 15 or 16, but by senior year you'd be doing the kid a disservice in telling him not to throw breaking stuff, as it would set back his career a year or two at least as he got the feel of thropwing breaking stuff

I know I've heard the "cutoff" for tiptoeing around for a kid's arm is 18 but is that really old enough to throw that stuff so regularly?

I honestly don't know. I wasn't a pitcher, so I can't say I'm speaking from a position of knowledge. My son pitches though, so I'd love to hear what those who know better think.
