After the 2009 season ended we needed to address weaknesses on both sides of the ball. This is what I rememberbing thinking days and weeks after the Colts game. Not everything was accomplished.... or could be in one year, but nobody could ever imagine upgrading the talent in the secondary the way we did or getting Holmes for a 5th rd. pick. Santonio Holmes is a Jet!!!! That's is so sick. Think about how ordinary our weapons were going into 2009 vs. currently... ok starting game 5. Its 180 degree turn around. Our weapons on offense and our coverage skills are off the charts, to me the best units in the NFL in my opinion. And if Jason works out, and gets us 10-12 sacks, our pass defense is lock down. Loved going to Shonne and replacing TJ with LT. Just hated getting rid of Leon, that might come back to bite us in the ass. I am really pissed about our Kicker and punter, I can't beleive we don''t have competition at the punter position. A great defense needs a good punter, field position is huge. The only thing I am worried about, that was not an issue until we cut Fanecas, is LG and I am confident in the coaches to preapre the young guys to step up and maybe upgrade Faneca.

    Upgrade pass coverage
    Acquire a pass rusher
    Another weapon on offense
    Shonne Greene replaces TJ
    Hope Jenkins comes back
    Hope Leon comes back
    Depth on both lines
Take care of contracts for core 4
Mr. T and Rex are ours forever
    Replace the punter

They didn't accomplish signing Mangold, Harris and Revis. Which is a bigger non accomplishment........... They sign them and this offseason might be the best ever.

Imagine that, signing all 4 guys by the start of the year. I would give Mangold a big 5 year contract, give Revis a cool 12 million bump for 2010 and deal with Harris next year.

Yeah, and Gholston is showing signs of being the player we thought we drafted....(sorry)

Harris won't hold out even if the Jets play hardball. I hope Tannenbaum does the right thing and locks this guy up, even if it means we have less money down the line to sign the Marques Douglas's and Mike DeVito's of the world. Oh and the same goes for #24 Revis.

Agreed- this is exactly what they should do. Mangold has been great, he's going to camp and acting like the leader he is.

I'm all for rewarding Mangold and Harris, 2 leaders on O and D who quietly carry their lunch pals each day and work hard. They have rewarded the Jets with their play and are now entering the last year of their contracts. I don't want them holding back because they have no future security in case they get injured. That's why I think these 2 guys should be the priority over Revis, who the Jets would buy back his next 2 years even if he was injured this year (unless career threatening). Don't get me wrong, I think Revis deserves more money too, but only after we lock up Mangold and Harris.
