Because it's that time of the year, and we don't deserve to share a thread with a national league team from the west coast. Recent Sox news: BP's PECOTA Team projections have recently been released, and they have the Sox at 98 wins, best in baseball (865 Runs Scored/683 Runs Allowed) In other spring training news, Masterson is going to start spring training working as a starter. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pl...news.asp?sport=MLB&id=4955&line=254393&spln=1
Do you know what the PECOTA predictions are or how they work? It's not just random guys picking, it's based on stats. EDIT: Also, I'm highly opposed to Masterson working as a starter.
Last years PECOTA predictions had the Mets going Mets 96-66 and winning the NL east with the Braves 2nd in the division. They're worth spit.
They also predicted the Chicago White Sox going 72-90 in 2007 and finishing fourth in the division. What happened? CWS went 72-90 and finished fourth in the division. Also very good at projecting player performances. So yeah, look at it as a whole, not just one example to discredit the entire thing.

Good fucking lord. That's a ton. I was thinking $15-$20, but that's going to be insane for a catcher.
Signing Bay to a long term deal would be a much bigger deal than Lester/Pedroia, and Youkilis to a lesser extent, because he's going to be an free agent soon. Probably just for that reason, signing him will also be more difficult. That said, Bay seems to be happy in Boston, and the Sox seem to like him. I'm very confident he'll be sticking around for awhile.
I don't think it's race though. He just wants bland. Lowell is Cuban and he's the prototype Epstien player.
If his ego is the type that results in making the playoffs almost every single year, with a championship every 2-3 years, I'm fine with it. He knows what he's doing.
