No surprise here. The face of the NFL for a long time now. It will be weird when he's no longer playing. Similar to when Jeter packs it in.
He's popular b/c he gives so many teams across the league a chance to win SBs every year w/ his annual chokes:lol: Players, just like fans, are jealous of Brady and all his success. None of this is surprising. did you see the article about 88% of execs who chose Brady over Manning b/c he has done more w/ less? that is more meaningful than jealous player polls.
Brady vs Manning used to be a lot more clear cut before Manning finally won a SB and Brady failed to win anything more despite being a much better QB than he was earlier in his career. Once you get into that mega contract range for QBs it's a lot harder to put solid talent around them, and then the playoff losses start piling up because their teams make the playoffs by default as long as they're healthy. Obviously in the regular season the most important thing is having a great QB but in the playoffs all it takes is one off game or going up against a good defense or a bad defense that's playing well(hi Giants) and you're finished.
it's still clear cut, it can get closer if Denver wins this week but it's still pretty clear as of now. even when Brady has struggled in postseason post 2005 he has been to 4 title games and 2 SBs, in Peyton's career he has been to 4 title games and 2 SBs(including this year) so even when Brady "struggled" he has been better than Peyton has been.
I think Peyton has to win the SB this year and retire and then with all the regular season accolades most would put him above Brady. I don't think a win just this week does that much for Manning since pretty much everyone agrees his team is much more talented and playing at home to boot. If Brady wins this week though that would put the final nail in Peyton's coffin as far as being the best of his generation.
a win this week then a SB win narrows the gap, he'd still have more work to do but it would be a lot closer. Both are all time greats obviously but 2 more wins for Peyton would be huge for his legacy. I agree if NE wins w/ that team in Denver then the argument is done forever.
This is not surprising, although I will say I don't trust these "player polls". We all know how badly they goof on the annual NFL network Top 100 lists. Just because somebody can play football doesn't mean they are very good at analyzing it
At some point in life, I would love to look into world in your eyes. Praise Sanchez but bash Peyton. Sometimes you are just too much junc and I am one ofnyour admirers.
2 completely different arguments and you guys perceive what you want to perceive. I have never called mark great or said he would be, I have always said Peyton is an all time great BUT Mark is vastly underrated and Peyton overrated. Peyton being overrated is based on people thinking he is better than Brady and the best of all time. The best of all time doesn't choke year after year after year in the biggest games w/ the incredible talent he has played w/ since day 1.
Playoffs are a crapshoot. Offense> defense in the regular season and vice versa in the playoffs. Brady's always had the superior defense and coach...they're pretty much even. Give Peyton Belichick the records are reversed imo. Two of the best ever arguing legacies is silly anyway. They're both going to Canton. Best ever is entirely subjective.
Brady's D's have always been overrated, Peyton's underrated. Did you know Peyton's D's have allowed less pts in postseason? Belichick was a complete failure as a HC before Brady took over so that excuse doesn't fly either.
Be reasonable junc. With the exception of the Panthers SB game the Patriots defense was and played fantastic in their winning years.
Just not true. The only postseason they played great throughout was the 2011 postseason and in that SB they became the first team in SB history to blow a 14 pt 4th qtr lead. The D has blown leads in 4 of their 5 SBs, in the 2 they won Brady had enough time to overcome while in the 2 they lost he didn't have enough time. and NE's D's never had a postseason close to as great as the 2006 one from the Indy D.
