Good news for jets fans and opening day Pacman Jones was arrested again early friday morning. This is his second time hes been arrested since drafted by the team. Might be good for jet fans on opening day Titans CB Jones charged with disorderly conductAssociated Press MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested outside a bar early Friday and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Jones Officers saw Jones arguing loudly with a woman outside a nightclub where a rap concert had been held, according to the police report. The 22-year-old Jones was described by police as slurring his speech, having bloodshot eyes and smelling strongly of alcohol. The arrest came the day after the Titans broke training camp. Jones was arguing with a woman he accused of stealing his wallet inside the club and passing it to one of her friends, according to police. Officers said they ordered Jones to leave several times, but he refused and continued to shout profanities. Jones was released from custody in lieu of $750 bond. He refused to sign an incident report over the theft of his wallet, which authorities said contained $750. The Titans declined to comment on the charges. Jones couldn't be reached for comment. The woman Jones was arguing with, Shakkiah Curtis, said his wallet and her purse were taken by other patrons at the club, the report said. Another club patron also has filed a police complaint, accusing Jones of assaulting her. Toya Garth of Antioch told police Curtis accused her of taking the purse and that Jones spit in her face. She said she spit back at him. Garth didn't immediately seek an arrest warrant against Jones, the sheriff's department said. Earlier in the week, Jones had talked about buying approximately 60 tickets for family and friends to watch him play against his hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons, Saturday night. Almost three months after the Titans made him the sixth overall pick in the 2005 draft, Jones was arrested after an incident at a nightclub. The charges were later dismissed. Some people should be castrated at birth. For the betterment of humanity. Pacman sounds like he would have been an excellent candidate.
Hey byz, I have an AWESOME idea for a fantasy league. We'd have to work out the details a little better, but it goes something like this: NFL Fantasy Turd League 75 Points: Felony arrest (Murder, assault w/ deadly weapon, etc.) 50 Points: Year long NFL suspension 25 Points: Four game or more NFL suspension 15 Points: Player entered into NFL substance abuse program 10 Point: Misdemeanor arrest (OUI, domestic absue, simple assault) 10 Points: Violation of "Team Rules" 5 Points: League-imposed fines I'm think there'd have to be a draft of a certain number of players (11 or 22?) per team. Since they don't keep stats, we'd have to compare notes on reported news stories. Maybe I'll send this to profootballtalk.com and see if that guy can pioneer the idea.
This is no big deal, I bet he isn't even prosecuted. Someone stole his wallet, and he got into and argument with security when they didn't do anything about it. No punches thrown or anything like that, this is nothing, if he hadn't had past problems noone would even hear about it.
Hmm now does just a felony arrest get me 75 points or does it have to be a conviction? This better be clarified because it would affect my current draft board immensely!
Great question. I've been working on it, and refining. That came to mind. I think there needs to be points assigned for BOTH arrest and conviction. Most cases with athlete plead-out. I'm thinking 25 point for a conviction - whether it be a misdemeanor or a felony. This would be useful for players that have been charged, but won't go to trial until well after the draft. And, you're right, an astute drafter would know which players have pending charges and a chance for some easy points. Biggest issue, I think, would be score keeping. I'm thinking that, as a turd competition, GMs of teams should have their own character put on the line. Score keeping should be by honor system - you post your own score weekly in the league thread. Cheaters who are caught will suffer harsh point penalties.
How many points for shanking a guy in prison? Or even more importantly, how many points for getting shanked? I hate to unveil the cover of my hopeful first round pick, but Chris Henry has "shanked in prison potential" written all over him.
Man, there are so many possibilities. I'd think that should be 100 points easy. But, you bring up a larger issue. We might just need one category of "Wildcard" points. Stuff like you just mention. Or, if, say, Jake Delhomme accidentally shoots a rare condor on a hunting trip. I'm also thinking that teams should be made up with 11 individual players PLUS one full NFL team. In addition to getting points for individual infractions, players would get one point for each penalty yard issued to a team. Kind of like picking a defense in a fantasy league. I'll be posting rules and a sign-up thread later today in the BS Forum. How many teams?
8-10 might be good for the first year, but you know that there's going to be a huge amount of interest in such a brilliant idea. Also, I think we should add a Keith Hamilton rule, 10 additional points for any crime involving a family member or a "baby momma".
