Pass Rush

Yeah it's terrible, we only get pressure if we bring the house and teams have caught on how to make us pay for that. All these top pick DE's and none can get to the QB.

 

Carr was releasing the ball pretty quickly a la Brady the game before.

 

Coples might be the most useless player on our roster

 

Its surprising how bad it was. What happened to those creative blitz packages that we saw early in the year?

I give the Raiders oline some credit cause Carr never even got hit today.

But these guys are the bread and butter. Zero pressure today made the secondary look worse than it should've been too.

 

The system the jets play 3-4 is not supposed to get the plays from the linemen, it's supposed to get it from the OLB positions, unfortunately the jets do not have any playmaking linebackers.

It's trying to put a square peg in a round hole. It won't work, they need to draft an OLB next year to complement th excellent 3-4 lineman they have.

I thought Mauldin was doing a good job but he is not getting much playing time,the CS obviously sees something we don't but I thought he was getting pressure on the QB before his injury.

It could be our DC, maybe he is not experienced enough to handle this type of responsibility and Bowles needs to take the reins on defense.

 

Pass rush has died every since the Jets have gone to more four man fronts. They probably need to play Mo closer inside and get him closer to the ball, since he's clearly our best pass rusher at this juncture and that should solve some of our issues. I'd like to see more of Mauldin and Riley as well at OLB.

 

This team has needed a pass rushing outside linebacker since 'Nam. For real, its been 10 years if not more. Why the hell do you take Leonard when you could have Beasley or Dupree. While Dupree may have been a reach, trade down for god sake. This team drafting DL after DL is ridiculous. Idc who you are you have to address the pass rush. Calvin Pace is the best thing we have had in the last 8 years, after him its Maybin. That is disgraceful.

 

In the Browns game I saw people like Mauldin and Reilly rushing the passer, Davis getting some interesting looks, Coples playing a role..IDK what happened but all of these guys are on the bench or playing poorly when they do play.

And Snacks is useless if we're trying to run a four man front with a 1 gap scheme. He's a fat ass lane clogger, he isn't Gerald McCoy, Geno Atkins, etc.

 

I am not sure why we keep 4 non pass rushing DEs on this team. We only need two and a nose tackle. Trade one of them for a linebacker.
