BRONCOS CLOSING IN ON DEAL FOR ABRAHAM A league source tells us that the Denver Broncos are closing in on a deal with the Jets to acquire the rights to defensive end John Abraham. Per the source, the Broncos would send a first-round pick to the Jets for Abraham, and Abraham would then be signed to a deal worth $27 million over the first three years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Profootballtalk.com Yes people may bash it, but its just as reliable as every other paper I have seen. Wether it being all of the CBA details early, Sam Madison's signing hours early, there usually not that bad. It is all over the broncos site as well, and to say the least the were all excited about abraham until they heard 27m. Another point: All i hope is we get the 22nd and not the 29th because im tired of getting hosed by other teams gms and coaches. Abe is worth alot more than a 29th pick which can almost be considered a second rounder
It's a pretty good pick though as this is a very deep draft class. I'd prefer to have all their picks, but Abraham wants to leave and that makes him worth less. With this pick, and our extra Compensation picks(I know we can't trade them, but they allow us to trade other picks) we can attempt to move up from 29 or just stay put and take what we can get.
I totally agree. If we get the 29th, they need to sweeten the pot with a 2007 conditional or at least their 4th rounder this year, too. Otherwise, no deal.
I wish Abe actually wanted to play here the slighest bit, because 9 million a year is really not too much. I'd be dissapointed with anything less than a top 15 pick, because Abe is worth much more than that. Oh well.
Edge James and Shaun Alexander are probowl players and their teams could not get a 2nd round pick for either last year.... dealing abe for any 1st round pick is great as he does not want to be here and we cant afford to sign him to the deal he wants anyway.
Yeah but Abe wants out and everyone knows it. I won't be complaining about the 29th pick, a first rounder is a first rounder.
"Why not Abe and our second for both of their first rounders?" Because our second rounder is only a few spots lower than the 29th pick, I guess if they refused anything else then sure, but I'd hope we can get more value.
Haha over at orangemane.com essentially every Broncos fan doesn't want this trade to go down. None of them want Abraham.
It only makes sense for them to give us 22nd overall...We could probably get better than the 29th overall from another team. So 22nd or no Abe...
A few of them were giving Sowell Train props on the board. Kept referring to "that 14-year old kid from Jersey." Too funny.
Can someone explain to me exactly who that guy is and where he gets his info from?? I am yet to get the details on that guy.
You guys who say ABE FOR 22 or NO DEAL...U guys just really need to reexamine. ABe wants out and the whole league knows it. Any first rounder for this guy is golden...pure golden. Abe is not a top 5 DE because he can't stop the run. A first rounder is a good deal for the guy. Just want to clear up, ABe's tender does not count if we are 14 million under, it does if we are 22 million under.
