I saw him pitch last summer in Trenton against the Binghamton Mets. If you were a Mets fan, it was not fun watching.

I hope he does well. He didn't in spring training or his first couple of starts in AAA but I think I read his last two have been good. He has to be better then the single A pitcher we used the last week.

Last night they said 10 days for Mussina and no timetable for Pavano (what's new there). So, again Cashman swore he wouldn't bring Hughes up before the allstar break and now he does. Why couldn't he have done that a week ago instead of Wright?

I like Hughes a lot, but I have a feeling this is a mistake. I wouldn't bring him up yet.

lets get it on. the great ones do not have to be babied. See Roger Clemens and Tom Seaver. if he has the balls to be great, he will show them.

i dont think he'll be a major starter in the rotation. I just have a funny feeling he might start a game or two then when moose comes back, he'll go back down to the minors for more development. I dont know whether this is kind of a test run for him and a desperate move until the rest of the rotation heals (happened a few times last year) , or a promotion to a full time starter like wang

I really hope that isn't the case. With the way Igawa has been pitching, if Hughes can consistently pitch into the 6th/7th inning, I would keep him up. He has two plus pitches, and a change that is going to evolve into a plus pitch. I know the majors aren't exactly the place to work on developing a pitch, but I think he should be able to get by with his great fastball-curveball while working on his change and slider with Guidry.

*AGS- You have your avatar ready to for Thursday eh' :)*

In my honest opinion, I think this is a panic move made by the Yankees.

I don't think there is any other way to put it. They shouldn't be panicking though. I rather not see Hughes pitch yet, but if the team feels it's the right move, then we as fans need to deal with it.

Good luck to Phil on Thursday though, I can't wait to see how he does :)
