This stuff will always be fascinating to me. Admiral Robert Peary (I always felt sorry for the dogs), Roald Amundsen, and years before, the failed Franklin Expedition of 1845. About the Franklin Expedition, there are several books written about it. There was even a fictional sci-fi series that I watched an episode or two of called 'The Terror' with Ciaran Hinds (based on the book by Dan Simmons). I lost interest in it, maybe I'll pick it up again. Anyway, I don't doubt some of the crew members resorted to cannibalism. It adds up. It's a little eerie that those ships were named The Erebus and The Terror.
