As everybody knows by now, I co-host a 100% commercial-free, no one makes a dime from it, Sports Talk radio show on Long Island. Tonight, at 9:15PM on LI's 90.3FM, we're going to be joined again by Newsday's Jets beat writer Erik Boland--this time, for a Jets Draft Review. Like always, please post any questions that you might have, and we'll ask them. While we're not yet webcast, I'll get the audio to http://hosted.filefront.com/patchyfogg as soon as humanly possible. Thanks!
Questions that interest me for Boland to address: 1. What is the two year interception total of those CBs taken before Dwight Lowery? How do they compare to Lowery's 13 over his 20 games (he was out 5 for a broken jaw)? 2. How does Dustin Keller's production (catches, yards, and TDs) compare with the other TEs taken in the draft? 3. Don't you have to judge the NYJ's draft with the pre-draft FA trades that involve our 2008 / 2009 picks included in the mix? Why or why not? 4. How well defined will VG's compensation be by the 5th Pick and the 7th Pick's contract negotiations? What other factors could complicate the NYJ's agreement with VG?
How does he compare our draft to NE, Buffalo's and Miami's and looking at the off season so far how do we rate vs our divisional opponents in over all talent at this point in the off season?
How much influence do you think the Chris Baker situation had on our decision to select Dustin Keller in the first round?
Aren't we really doing Patchy Fog's job for him, by putting together the entire interview? Just kidding. What are his thoughts on how the Jets have handled O-Line depth in recent years, including the draft this year? Does he feel that picking up one practice squad player towards the end of day 2, 2 years in a row is the way to really build up the lines behind our starters? What backup presently on our squad can really hold his own if a starter were to go down for any length of time?
Who does he think will win the QB competition and why? :metal: Where does he see Ainge fitting in long term ie- career backup or potential starter?
Why go Keller over one of the receivers? Was it because they felt TE was a bigger need due to Baker's contract disputes, or because they just felt Keller was the best pass-catcher, regardless of position, in the entire draft? (he was the first WR or TE taken). Thanks.
Does he think Gholston was the right choice or should we have gone in a different direction (ie trade or other player)? Why did we not take a DE with a draft pick as that is one of our needs?
